[maybe a trigger?] infection??
 

a couple days ago i cut..deeper then normal..and it wasnt too bad until it ripped open ..the scab that came back was very thin and theres a definate gap between the sides.. then that scab ripped..and now its ..uhm..oozing i guess...i have no idea what to do with it..its not red or hot..so i dunno if its infected..but i just dont know..

help!

It doesn't sound infected, but its still a good idea to put something on it to clean it out. Some sort of disinfectant.

If it's not gaping or anything, try some peroxide. That should help to clean it. If it fizzes white, then it means it's cleaning out the bacteria. However, if it is gaping, try good old-fashion soap and water. Uh, but that's just advice from me. You'd probably be better off forgetting what I just said.

no peroxide. never. just gently wash w/ soap & water. put lots of antibacterial cream on it to keep the scap soft, so it doesnt crack. no stick gauze. change the dressing every two days.

thanks for the replies all i did with it was put some bacitracin on it with a nice big bandaid and its not lookin all that bad this morning..will try washing it out and see how that goes =]

What color was it oozing?

Sounds like you probably just disturbed the healing process and keeping it clean and dry should sort things out.

DO NOT USE PEROXIDE!!!!

What colour is the ozzing?
Is there an increase in the amount of pain?

it dosn't sound infected. keep it clean and try not to knock it again(i know it is easer said then done).

hmm it was like a whiteish yellowish color..but it stopped oozing as of last night..its starting to heal up

it was a little bit numb for a couple days but no increase in pain

I am glad it is start to heal up, hope the cleaning goes well.

Okay I am just wondering what the problem with peroxide is? I use peroxide on everything, it seems to work for me.
