burn
should i put a dressing on a burn-gauze etc or can it just be left open??? help much appreciated

Burns should really have a dressing on as they are very prone to infection. If it is new then putting cream on the wound will likely worsen it as the heat from the burn will heat up the cream --> heat up the wound... Burns plasters are always the best as they help to prevent infection, they cushion the burn and help to cool it and they don't stick to it. Normal gauze pads may stick to it but to prevent this you could put a bit of Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline). This though should only be done once it's properly cooled.

its literally minutes old, been doing it for the last half hour :( found a bandage with a gauzy/melolin type dressing pad on it, i'll leave the vaseline till tomorrow thanks

Yeah. Make sure you hold it under cold running for at least ten minutes (or until its cooled; whichever is the longest)to take the heat off it and prevent as much damage as possible.
