need to stop smoking for a couple of days-help?
Ok basically I'm a smoker, I'm fine with that don't want to quit blah blah blah. However my asthma (yes smoker with asthma shock horror-i dont care) is bad at the moment, I have a cough that is killing me, and so I really need to give the smokes a rest for a couple of days to give my lungs a chance to recover froma previous chest infection. However I've tried and tried over the last few days but I just plain can't do it. Advice/tips please?

thank god you're being sensible at last! lol
nicorette patches? lollies? nicotine chewing gum? its the nicotine you're craving right? so maybe try them for a few days. love you x |
i never really found it that hard to give up for a while. Basically you need to control the urges to smoke with patches and nicotine gum. You could even go to the docs and get some of it for free and get even more help and support there

I find staying busy stops me from thinking about smoking, especially at those awkward times when you always have one. Best of luck!

Good luck, I know how hard quitting can be!
I've heard that lollipops help. Also try to avoid situations where you usually smoke (eg. bars). When I quit, I tried to hang out as much as possible with my non-smoker friends - that way I wasn't tempted as often. <3 Laura |
nicotiene patches etc as mentioned but also if its the act of smoking there are some good herbal replacements that dont irritate the lungs as much

I've known a few people who have quit smoking and I learned that a nicotene craving lasts only one minute, so maybe if you feel one coming on you can remind yourself of this and maybe meditate or do some deep breathing for that minute... something to distract and remember that the craving will pass.
