Broken Wrist?

How do you know if you have a broken wrist?

hammy 23-04-2008 01:08 PM

Hi I'm not sure exactly. I'm trying to remember what it felt like when I broke my wrist.
Excruciating pain to start with. Swelling starting up. Bruising. Pain to move.

Wrap up a bag of frozen peas (or similar) with a tea towel and then place on the affected area.

Best thing is to get it checked out at the hospital. May be you have a minor injuries clinic, they could see you faster than A&E.

Hope you get it sorted and feel better soon.

Usually by getting an xray.
If you have hurt it, and there is a lot of pain and swelling then it might be a good idea to get it checked out.

most people would see if you could move it or not but that cant tell you either way. I could move mine perfectly well (although it hurt like hell) when i broke my wrist. Best paying A&E a visit.

If you think it's broken then you should probably go to the Doctors. When I fractured my wrist I remember it would hurt to move and to hold. I would also randomly get really sharp shooting pains in it. It also swelled up. Mine oddly didn't bruise but most times a broken bone will.... But just to be safe you should probably get it checked out.

Here is a good rule to go by.

Minor/moderate injuries will start getting better after 24 hours. Bad injuries will keep getting worse after 24 hours. So if it's been 24 hours since your wrist was hurt, and it feels just as bad it deffo needs to get checked out by a doctor.

Well, can you move it? Is it swollen like crazy? If you think it might be broken, you'd better get it checked out.
