paracetamol cocodamol && ibuprofen

i have a fair few tablets here a mixture of paracetamol, co codamol && ibuprofen. i am really triggered and need somthing to put me off. what will happen to my body if i take these?

alienshe_cheesycake 17-04-2008 11:38 AM

Don't take them!
Please don't take them!.
You can **** your liver up and die ultimatly.

Because they have paracetamol in them you could take them, feel ok for a few days and then your Liver would start to shut down
You could die.

I'm not trying to scare you, I just think that you need to know what you could be doing to yourself. Dying from Liver Failure is very painful and if you leave it for long enough perhaps inevitable. Depending on how strong your liver is.

even if you don't die, you could end up with a ruined liver and have difficultly with it for the rest of your life.

Do you have anybody that you can call?
I have to go in a minute but I don't want to leave you in this state if you don't have anybody to talk to, Do you have anybody (CMHT?) that you could ring?

Paracetamol can do a lot of damage, so can the others.
I was in hospital recently after an OD, and they kept telling me how dangerous paracetamol is (I didn't even take any) and they checked my levels anyway. It can take weeks to affect your liver etc and it's really not worth it hun.
The amount you say you have will make you feel pretty shitty, with mine I was being sick and shaking for a few days and I was asleep for hours and hours and it was really scary to be honest. Something I'd definitely warn people against.
Could you possibly ring someone? Not even to say anything serious, but just as a distraction?
Take care hun, keep us updated as to how you are
*huge hugs*

Also hun, I'm not triggered by this but some people may be, and the amount can be seen as triggering/tip sharing, so could you maybe remove the number of tablets and just say you have a fair few?
Sorry

my head of year will ask me why i didnt come in this morning anyway which isnt good seeing as im on attendance report for like the eight week running but at least i wont have to start off the convo. i think im gonna go in for like 1.30 so i'll let you know how it goes tonight sometime or maybe tomorrow morning if i can get her to shorten my timetable so i dont have to be in first thing.

Neon. 17-04-2008 12:19 PM

Good luck with that hun.
I hope she's understanding.
How are you feeling? And what have you done with the tablets?
Take care

Yeah think you should talk to someone about how you're feeling, you can't go on like this!

Would also just like to reiterate what the others are saying about paracetemol/co-codomol!

Very, very dangerous to OD on them for the reasons tated above, could literally destroy your liver and kill you, SO PLEASE GET RID OF TABLETS!

Best Wishes,

Craig

GET RID OF THE TABLETS. Throw them away, chuck them down the sink, flush them down the toilet. Anything, just don't take them. As said above Paracetamol overdoses (and paracetamol is in co-codamol) slowly destroy your liver and can affect you days later. Ibuprofen destroys your stomach/intestines/kidneys. Taking them REALLY isn't a good idea. Talk to the supporters, see if they can help. If they are offline then try emailing them supporters@recoveryourlife.com. You can also email/talk to the Samaritans, I don't know the number/ email but if you type "samaritans" into google it should come up with it. You could also contact your local crisis team which you might be able to find on the net or even talk to your GP, a friend or your parents. They'd prefer to know about it then to find out that you've ODd. If you're feeling really unsafe it might be worthwhile popping down to a+e and seeing if they can help get a psych to see you.

How are you feeling? Have you taken anything?

Wonderland. 17-04-2008 08:55 PM

I've PMd you

rupi 18-04-2008 10:03 AM

Hey amy,
what happened at school did you tell your head of year?
Have you taken anything??

please please please just bin the tablets or flsuh em or anything, just get rid of them... the after pains will be alot worse than the pain you have now:(

Dramatic 18-04-2008 02:54 PM

They're all equally dangerous as one another.
Having taken all of these during an OD, it's..really not worth it. The Paracetamol will give you liver failure - not only could it be fatal, but it could be a very painful death.
I understand how tempting an OD can be, especially when times are hard. Try to distract yourself, although i know it's easier said than done.
Keep your chin up.
xx

Amy, perhaps at this point, it might be an idea to make a thread in one of the support forum as I feel you may benefit from this at present. If you still feel like you want to take them perhaps it might be an idea to attend your local A&E who might be able to offer you a better solution.

Unfortunately, I dont think there is any further advice that can be given through first aid and so I am going to lock your thread. If you need any further first aid advice feel free to pm myself or one of the other advisors.

Take care
Kim
