Everyone's going to learn about my SI tomorrow :( Any advise please? EDIT: How it went :)
So tomorrow I'm going to wear a t-shirt at school so everyone is going to notice my scars.. What should I do? Tell them the truth? ("Yea I did them. Don't want to talk about it") or find an excuse?
If I tell them the truth they're gonna laugh at me and start calling me emo (which I hate) for the rest of this year and the next one. Also what can I do to avoid further questions? If I dont tell them the truth I must find a logical and truthfull excuse and right now I can't think of anything. I can't pass them as cat/dog scratches or anything like that.. I'm really worried right now... PS. One really good friend of mine is going to also learn (I have decide to tell her the truth) and I'm anxious about her reaction too.. Guh wish me luck :crying: EDIT: So I did it! I went with a t-shirt at school! I got a funny reaction from two of my classmates and a bad one from my ex-best friend. The two classmates said: "Wow your dog did that?" and I answered them "yea yea..." They didn't really game me the chance to find an excuse. Still can't believe it how they thought those were dog scrathes.. Now the bad one..My friend when she saw my arm said "Look at yourself! Why didn't you wear longsleeves!?" Then when I asked her to hug me (I'm a very huggy person :P) she said "I don't want to touch you the way you are!" I don't know what to think about this really..Should I try to explain to her or leave it like this? :ermm: |

The first time I decided to wear a skirt at school (which would also mean showing my scars) I was honestly terrified. I thought for sure everyone was going to stare/laugh/ask questions/etc.
I put a smile on my face (as best I could) and tried not to focus on them. To be honest: nobody said anything, not even the teachers. Later on, someone asked if I had been in a car accident to which I just shruged and said I didn't want to talk about it. I haven't heard a comment about them since. If you're able to, I'd bring along a sweater or "cover up" of some sort incase it gets to be too much. That way you have the comfort of knowing you can cover them if you want to. Good luck dear *hugs* and best wishes! |
Oh do you think they're not going to say anything? I reeeeally hope so I'm just like you said terriffied at the moment...Yes I guess I'll bring a jacket with me...
Thank you :) |
You are so brave doing this- i really respect you for making this decision.
If you act as though you are comfortable with your scars, people shouldn't ask too many questions and if they do, answer them confidently. Good luck *hugs* xxx |

Oh wow....You are so brave and I really respect you for being able to make this decision...!
I hope it goes okay. Sam x |
Good luck with it all and well done on being so brave. Defo take something incase you feel the need to cover up cos it can be a bit daunting if someone looks at you the wrong way and you think they're staring!
Well done anyway and dont worry too much. Chances are most people wont comment and if they do just make sure that your either firm in saying 'i dont want to talk about it' and they'll back off or think of some witty comebacks so they'll shut up. Good luck anyway hun! xx |
good luck hun, i hope everything goes ok

You are so brave :]
I wish you the best of luck!!! -hugs- |
Good luck. If you dont want your parents to notice put on a light coat or something until you are at school that way you also have it if it gets to intense...

i used to be afraid of going to school with my scars and what not uncovered, but honestly, people never even notice it.
i went a whole day without one person saying a thing. im sure you'll do just fine and the reactions, or lack of reactions really, will suprise you. good luck. |
Good Luck
I find that unless people are specifically looking for them they dont tend to notice because unless they are incredibly obvious you dont tend to look at people's arms. xoxox |
good luck xxx
