Chest pains.

Heylo.

I have been getting bad chest pains for quite a few months now, I have been to the doctors on 3 occasions & they have said there's nothing they can do, they haven't bothered to give me a proper examination or anything, they just say 'it's cause I'm bulimic- if I carry on making myself sick then the chest pains will stay'.
But over the past few days I can't breathe without my chest throbbing or stabbing, the pain is quite high up on the left side of my chest. I have found that sometimes I just can't find my breathe at all. My purging has been alot worse over the past few days I do admit. & basically I am wondering if anyone knows what this is/if it's anything serious? Or if I am just over-reacting.
I don't want to have to go to the doctors again, cause they just don't seem to take me seriously. I was begining to think the pains were nothing at all, but I just can't ignore it anymore.

Any information/advice will be hugely appreciated.
Thank you.

Lucy.

Hey Lucy,

I don't like the attitude of your doctors one little bit! Although chest pains can be caused by many things which are not serious such as muscular skeletal, or panic attacks there is always tghe chance that there is something more serious going on, so if i were u I'd either be changing my doctors or in the more immediate term taking a trip down to my local hospitals accident and emergency department! I doubt that they'll be so flippant with u there, chances are that they will carry out some tests to put your mind at rest hope that this helps!

Best Wishes,

Craig

luce go back to the doctor or a and e.
you dont sound right at all.
bullimic or not why judge an illness because someone purges.

heya hunni, i think u really should go back to the drs - i no how frustrating it is wen they dont seem to take u seriously but nethertheless, it needs investigating. It could be low electrolytes, palpitations or even heart damage - whatever it is, insist that tests need to be done.
Take care my lovely

Lucy hunny,

Please go to the docs or A&E. You know bullimia can cause some very serious heart problems so its better to be safe than sorry and get it checked out!

Stay safe hun xx

Please get yourself to A+E as soon as you can.

Chest pains should always be taking seriously whether you're bulimic or not. Bulimia changes the ***** of electrolytes/ions in your body and therefore ends up putting a lot of stress on your heart and can damage it and so chest pains need to be checked out. As well as this it causes damage to your stomach and oesophagus so it could be these that you are thinking of or it could be another problem within your chest unrelated to your bulimia. Yes it might be something as simple as spasming of your intercostal muscles but this cannot be diagnosed over the net and with any chest pains they have to be taken as a MEDICAL EMERGENCY so get yourself to the hospital. As well as this you've got to try as hard as you can not to purge as this could be making it a lot worse and at least it will not be improving the situation. I know this may be hard but you've got to try as much as you can.

thank you for your replies. I am going to ring my GP tomorrow & ask to have a chat with him/go in & talk with him cause it's got to the point where I really do think I have done myself some damage. I'm just scared it might turn out as nothing & they will think I'm an idiot. bah.

thank you.
Lucy.

As mentioned above, next time this happens get yourself straight to A&E. Chest pain can turn serious pretty qucik. And they best way for them to find out what is wrong is for them to be able to examine you whilst you are having chest pain.

Make sure when you get there you tell the receptionsit that you are havingchest pain and they will usally get you straight through so that you dont have to wait and they an check you out as soon as possible.

Take care
Kim

How did it go at the Drs? If they havent listened, as soon as it happens again, get to a and e, if the pain is there, it may be easier to detect what the problem is anyway.

This cannot wait, insist on tests, and if they say your fine, say I dont feel it, so since you (the drs) have the ability to prove it, do the test and show me that this excruciating pain in my chest,, that is a indicator of possible heart problems is, as you say, nothing to worry about.

Grr at your GP

love you xx
