Treatment for scars
 

Does anyone have any knowledge/experiance of using products meant for scar reduction etc?
I just brought some Bio Oil as I kept seeing it on TV with supposid good results.

Anyone else tried it or other stuff? I have 'extensive' scarring on both arms and want to reduce/lighten smooth out the damage. Any thoughts or ideas?

being perscribed dermacolour camouflage cream thats like foundation and can cover them up.. but it doesnt help reduce them

Oh I have camouflage stuff. Got it from the British Red cross. Then prescribed from GP.
But it isn't that good I find. As I have a lot of scars I can't cover them all and make it blend well. And as seasons change tans don't help! So never quite got right 'colour' for all the time.

I've been using a cream that has vitamin E, and my scars are almost gone. They're there, I know where, but I can go out and people won't look at my arms

do u know the process how to get it? my gp persrcibed me it but ive been told i need to ring red cross up and go there to get colours and what not. i dont fancy showing them my cuts/scars!

i tried bio-oil, but i didnt find it that good. i bought some vitemin E oil from a health shop for cheap and that works better, i know am using E oil and coco butter! you can use vitemin E capsules as well that you normally swallow - just burst them and rub them on if you cant find any oil.

I'm using a green tea/vitamin E lotion as well as standard body oil which is working wonderfully. Cocoa butter is amazing too from a friend's experience.

Rescue Oil (which is basically bio oil but cost me less than £2) works for me, i've found if i use it everyday it does make the scars fade quicker.

I got it from Wilkinsons, but i think places like bodycare and savers (cheap healthcare shops) have it too

I used the palmers cocoa butter when I was free, and I also used it on my scars from my surgery, everyday, once a day, and they were pretty much gone after a year [[=

How long does it take all this stuff to work? especially the lotion with vitamin E?

I've used mine for a month straight on relatively newer scarring (they were about two months old when I stated using it) and they're almost completly unnoticeable.

i started using bio oil but never rememver to use it everyday but it seems to be mildly working (when i remember) on new scars

I've been using bio oil and i have noticed a slight difference in my scars

i used a cream called fade away (you can get it from boots in the skincare section) I found it worked pretty well my scars on my arms are faded alot now, not so much my feet but arms,well i dont wear anythin to cover them anymore and no one has said anything. Im not saying it miraculously makes them fade but over time it did help and in short run it seemed to make them look better after putting it on also! hope that is of some use to ppl, if anyone wants to chat pm me xxx

I am not a fan of bio oil. I am bursting vitamin E capsules at the moment to see if they will help :)
In boots they have scar reduction pads that I bought for about £20 (alot I know) and it seemed to work but the only thing is that i also have 'extensive' damage so i used it up so quickly and I can't afford £20 every month for scar treatment.

It really helps . well its considerbly lightend some of my deepest scars
and i dont think its too expensive =]]

Did any of you tryed surgically removing your scars?
I've done some searching on the net on how to remove them..and I found that you can by plastic surgery.
I'm considerign it,so I'll keep you informed bout this if I'll get through with it.
I'm thinking of getting an appointment soon so wish me luck ;-)
