Bumpy Arms?
Kay so I have really weird looking upper arms.
They're covered in little bumps that look like goosebumps, but I have them 24/7. I thought it might be like acne but they almost never get heads on them, like I'll literally get one or two that look like actual spots a month. Does anyone know anything I can do to get rid of them? Or does anyone have the same problem? They're only on my upper arms but they make me feel dead self conscious about wearing vest tops and the like. Which is awkward as it's so hot. |
my friend has them on the tops of her arms.
i dont know what they are though. |
yeah it sounds like you have the same thing I have. If you do it's called Keratosis Pilaris. Here's a link about it: http://www.helpforkp.com/ . Hope that helps x

i have this also... on my arms and legs! urgh!
ive found that using a gentle exfoliator helps with the bumps. i think its to do with hair folicals (sp?) trying to get through the skin. *runs away* |

So thaaaaaaaaaat's what it is. I have it all over my body except my palms, the soles of my feet and I normally don't have it on the backs of my hands or the tops of my feet. But I quite literally have it everywhere else. Soooooo embarrassing. :(
I haven't found anything that works. Dermatologists and doctors I've been to have just said "oh, it's eczema, here's a hydrocortisone cream." That's always made it worse. Ummmmm... I don't really know what to say. I hope you find something for it. And really, a lot of people do have it. The ex boy thing asshole had it even though he refused to admit it. The current jackass has it almost as bad as I do. His son has it horribly. Ummmm... that's about all I can say about it. I might be going to a dermatologist soon about it. If that ends up happening, if you would like and haven't got information on it yet, I can tell you what I'm told. |
Oh, and don't squeeze them. Little hard things do come out but it causes icky scars and sores. And it becomes addicting. The first time I went to the doctor about them he told me to squeeze them. I was five. To this day I still do it when I'm nervous. I'm constantly covered in scars and scabs due to it and even have a few indent scars on my chest and thigh from when I was five and had barely started squeezing them. A very, very bad thing for the stupid doctor to have told me to do.

i cant belive it i thought i was the only one with this its so horrible im scarred all over from squeezing them ive had them for years my doctors thinks i just got dry skin!!!i cant stop squeezing and picking them im obsesed!!!

Do you have any irish heratige in you?
I have the same thing, and a lot of my family has it too. It is very common in the Irish, and I remember hearing about it being called something like the "Curse of the Irish" once. |
i have the same thing too. and i'm english heritage (so kinda close to irish.) but anyways, my doctor told me it was a very mild case of egzima or however you spell it. all he told me to do wal scub really hard and moisturize like no other. i dont think it ever goes away, which sucks really bad. :p
|
^ Argh. It's spelt "eczema". And... you never scrub eczema. :\
Moisturizer sounds about right though. |
I've had them since I was 12. I'm 16 now, and they just keep getting worse!
I've tried a lot of things, but nothing's worked, and mostly just made them worse. It's well annoying. Interestingly I do have Irish heritage.. I'm like 1/16th Irish. I don't know if that's enough to make a difference though. |
Wow it's great to know I'm not the only one =]. I've never seen anyone else with it.
And Lifeisabitch thanks for the website, I'm going to look into some of the stuff it reccomends on there. Edit: Sandwich Burger, if you could tell me what the dermatologist tells you that'd be awesome. =] Thanks guys. |

I have some Irish in me but not much. |
I can't add anything advice-wise, just thought i'd say i have them too, on my upper arms. To be honest it's never greatly worried me, just more annoying than anything because i'd love to have smooth skin.
KatieFrank - i'm almost convinced we must be related, i keep seeing your posts and going 'ME TOO!' xx |
