Has anyone read this book? Its bloody brilliant :-) and apparently they are making it a movie hehe
|
i have heard of the book, i want to read it but havent managed to get hold of a copy yet
|
My friend had to read it for some sort of school workshop thing. She said it surprised her because she thought it would be rubbish and it was quite good.
|
this book is my MOST favourite book ever........can't believe they're making it into a film!!!That will be amazing!!
according to Wikipedia... "A Miramax film adaptation of the novel was shot in Budapest between April and June 2007. The film will be released September 12, 2008 in Ireland and the UK, on September 17, 2008 in China and Japan, and on October 3, 2008 in Finland." WOOHOO!!! ARE YOU COMING WITH ME ANN?? |
I read that in like one hour on holiday two years ago. Really good, well written but very sad.
|
An amazing book, so looking forward to the film.
|
Went to see the film today, well, technically yesterday now -not sure I should have...love the book, and -indeed- the film, but wasn't in the right frame of mind for it to not hurt me...
i'm still pretty numb and it ended 6 hours ago... |
I really want to see the film.
Haven't read the book yet. Ali xox |
i watched an hour of the film last night (I was supposed too be working but there was nothing going on!)
It looks awesome from what i watched, but i was in streams of tears at the end. It was really quite shocking. Deffinitly makes you think about the morality of war. |
is it kiddy?>
|
it's far from Kiddy. I mean it does have this great streak of innocence, as Bruno befrends 'the boy in the striped pyjamas'. The innocence is what makes the story really special. It's like there are no divides. Enemies become friends.
But t does have some sinister and upsetting twists as Bruno actually befriends a jewish child in a work camp, and it deals with some upsetting issues to do with Holocaust. It's not bloody or anything, just upsetting in places because of the subject matter. Totally worth a watch though. |
sounds interesting i think i may have to :)
|
One of the few films that has done justice to recreate an amazing book. I really enjoyed it, the two boys in it were brilliant.
|
I saw this tonight and my word I was so moved.
Me and my housemate wanted to see a film and after reading the synopsis of this on the internet we decided to see it because we thought it sounded 'cute'. We were so wrong! There were some cute bits in it but I have never seen a film that made me sob rather than cry. When it ended everyone was just sat in silence, not moving but when people did move they only whispered to one another. That was a weird experience. The film did make me think about the war and it showed the harsh reality of it. It was really sad but it was just amazing. I want to read the book now :) |
I saw the film also - thought that it was very good, emotional and well directed. It felt very real as well- really conveyed the horror of what happened. I'd also like to read the book :)
