some of my work- please comment
Cold
Lying in the cold, face turned away Trying to loose the pain I feel each day To leave behind the person I never wanted to be Hurting and alone, I want to be free No-one to hold me, to feel the regret I look at myself, my biggest threat Holding my arms, as I tear apart inside There’s nowhere to run, nowhere to hide But now she is with me, the one who cares Never points, never whispers, never laughs or stares I have given myself to her, I fall into her embrace, She pulls me close, kisses my cheek, wipes tears from my face, Whispers in my ear, each word falls from within, Says, you could be beautiful, if only you were thin I turn to her for help, to show me how to fight, I fall asleep in her arms, and she stays the night, I know Mia loves me, she shows me how to become, Light and free, and I start to come undone, I sit on the floor, I can no longer stand, The pain that I feel, she doesn’t understand, Because to her I am beautiful, only skin and bone, But everyone has left, and I feel alone, So I give myself to her, and let her carry me away, Knowing that I will not live to see another day, I understand what Mia meant, as my spirit soars, light and free, When she said that I would be beautiful, if I were only me, I didn’t need my body, I just needed to say goodbye, And, finally I was able, to spread my wings and fly. |
An Angel's Letter
It starts with a tear, lost on a face Feeling tired and out of place, Curled in a circle, asleep on the floor Don’t really belong here anymore Trying to feel what it is to be whole, To make sense of life, find a role It starts with a blade, sliding over skin, Bloody swabs and bandages, discarded in a bin, Open wounds trace the journey taken, Alone in this hell-hole, godforsaken, As the blood falls to the floor, crimson rain, And the air is filled with the scent of shame It starts with the match, smouldering heat A girl’s life turned to ashes at her feet, Skin swims, rolling, as the flame glows, Eats at her heart, as her pain grows, A cleansing of pain, a showing of truth, Creating the scars of a misspent youth. It ends with a body, curled on the floor, Curled in a circle, couldn’t take any more, Propped on the desk, an angel's letter, Telling her parents, she wished she were better Wished she had been the daughter they thought Her writing, the scrawl of the overwrought. It ends with a goodbye, from a daughter they never knew Lying slumped on the bed, hair askew, A daughter who was lonely, feeling despair, Who felt alone, with no-one to care, But now she is gone, she cannot see, The pain she left behind, although she is free. |
Losing the Memories
What do you do, when you look back on your life, and realise that all the times you laughed, cried, hoped, wished, and dreamed, have faded into the mist, lost forever to the sands of time, never to be seen again? When you struggle to recall the last time you stood barefoot on grass, and felt the tickle on your feet, felt the icy kiss of snowflakes brush your nose, or walked through crispy, golden red autumn leaves. When you can no longer remember the things that make you who you are, the words that you have spoken, the things you have thought, the words you have written, the songs you have sung and the silences shared with friends. What do you do, when you realise that your life has become nothing but work, no time to play, no time for fun, no time to just stand and look at the world around, to step back and watch, not just race past? Do you watch the memories slipping away, feel them slide through your fingers, running like water to the floor, sinking out of sight, seeping away through the ground, until you cannot see them anymore, and mourn their loss? Or do you stand barefoot on grass, feel it tickle, just as before? Do you walk through golden autumn leaves, like you did before? Do you stand in the cold and turn your face to the sky and wait for snow ? Do you make new memories, and remind yourself of who you really are? |
Teenage Politics
Sitting on the floor, back against the cold wall Feeling lost in a world filled with bright lights Swirling colours blur around me, spinning Technicolor darkness, silently screaming my name Because I can’t be the person they want Every day I pretend that everything is ok, That my world isn’t spiralling down the drain That I’m not losing control of myself One foot in front of the other, just to make it, Emerging gasping on the other side of another day Then realising that I have to do it all again tomorrow Another day filled with unspoken thoughts, Where everything I say is analysed and critiqued One wrong word could send me falling, One glimpse of the scars leave me an outcast And so I force myself through the motions, Fitting quickly into the choreographed routine, But always struggling desperately to keep up, Playing a twisted game of teenage politics, Where the rules are constantly changing, and No-one emerges unscathed from the other side And so I scar myself, so others don’t have to. |
Wow! You are seriously, amazingly talented. Really talented. These completely blew me away.

Feeling beautiful
Distorted reflection, can i believe What I see before me? It's just that everything else in my life tells me lies, people afraid of the truth, and so i stand before the mirror, looking at the girl i see wishing i could see her as beautiful, but instead all i see is faults, fat ugly, not good enough, never going to be good enough, because thats what they always say, you could do better, you could be better, always wishing i was someone else, except the person that i see before me. Whats wrong with her? why isnt she good enough? how can you expect her to be someone other than who she is? spend all her life wishing she was someone else.. well let me tell you a secret... so does she... She wishes she could be beautiful. But she won't be, until she believes in herself. and how can she do that, when no-one else believes in her? |
