photography take a look
 

Art is something that touches you and makes you freeze and look. If a photograph strikes you and makes you see things that you did not see before it is an artistic view of the world isnt it so therefore isnt photography an art? i believe it is. some people might fight this by saying well no the camera does all the work well it doesnt a photographer chooses the aperature, shutter speed, angles, film speed, etc. thats just to take the picture now when it comes to processing it you have to process the film and then choose what paper you want glossy, matte , pearl, etc... and even going on from there you have to choose how long to expose the light to the negative onto the paper and whether or not you need a filter or to burn in a little or even cropping there are many choices in making a photograph and there is an art to making each print... but everyone has freedom of choice you choose is it an art or not? if not how is it not an art? and what then is it?

I think that photography is an art. I mean just taking some pictures of your friends with a digital camera obviously isn't, but there can be so much more to it than that. Especially if you're developing your own film. I practically lived in the dark room in high school, and I most definitely consider the pictures I took to be art.

I agree photography is an art. Although with all the digital camaras now, you don't need to necessarily know anout photography to take an artistic picture, you can sometimes get lucky.

Some of the photography i've seen on here is just brilliant.

Man Ray is a classic example of an artist using photography.

Meh art. At the end of the day if you want it to be art then it is! End of.
