'Microgynon 30' does it work 4 this?

Hey, my doc has put me on the 'birth control' pill, because it contains hormones and stuff and he thinks that will stabilize my mood swings that people say all teens have and are a phase...My moods swing from extremely suicidal to extremely high like when I'm on drugs high...and then I forget the highs...does anyone know if this pill would make any difference or help in any way?

Thanks,
xx

yeah, I've got the pills...but a possible side effect is big boobs (lol) and a gain in appetite...and I cant go through a huge appetite.

I have been on microgynon now for 2 years.I personally havent found it to be a benifit for my mental health and its possibly makes it worse from my own experience.

I dont know if thie contraceptive pill will cure everything, it may ease it slightly but if you are having troubles controlling your mood then probably some anti depressants or something similar may be a more of a benifit for you

just noticed you had replied again-

i have had no serious effects, no weight gain caused by it, no increase of appitite

Supposedly they stabilise your hormones. So that instead of learning to listen to and observe what's going on in your body, and working to live with it, the pills quieten what's going on in your body.

But then I would be taking anti-depressants when I'm on my high?

eh. Anti-d's can make you go high. depression has to last for 2 weeks to be diagnosed. You should give the pill a try..

and if it doesnt work go back your doctor and see, cos he's the one who knows best. x

i was them because i had cysts on my ovary's but i had to come off it because it was making me really bad and i was eatting for 10 people i swear.
give it ago it might work for you.

lawrie 05-03-2008 08:49 PM

the pill works differently for different people... personally i had no side affects whatsoever (desireable or not) but a close friend of mine had an awful time on microgynon... but now she is on a different pill things are much better.

the best thing to do would be to give it a go... i know doctors can be a bit crap sometimes, but he's had years of training and experience and we haven't. if it doesn't work out, go back and try something else, if it does, then good news!

Queer Fringe 05-03-2008 09:13 PM

Thanks, If my appetite goes up, I'm getting straight off of them! and I never thought they wuld work 4 moods as well! but...the doctors always right! (sometimes) xx hehe xx
