Weight Watchers

Well me and my mum are joining.
Was wondering if anyone had joined and had any experiences before.
Did it work for you or is it a load of tosh?

Air,

I never did WW, but I joined Curves and am joining again and that worked quite nicely for me! My friend's mom did WW and lost about 100 lbs...so it works as far as I can tell. :)

I have never joined. So I don't really know what the program is completely. I have heard varying opinions about it. But for anyone of these programs, in order to see a difference, you need to put excercise in to it as well. Perhaps you and your mom can go on a walk/jog every morning/night, join a small gym to work out as well. Then you can let us knkow how it worked for you. :)

FlightlessBird 11-06-2007 05:57 PM

I <3 curves cause it's all women who aren't mad skinny exercise addicts...it's real women like you and me, so I feel more comfortable going there. but yeah, don't expect to see major weight loss over night. You do have to put some exercize into it like walking, swimming, etc. and it's healthy to lose anywhere from 1-3 lbs per week...but add that up over a month or two and it's quite a difference! Good luck! I'm in the same boat with the trying to lose weight deal, so I know how it is.

Airlyeth 11-06-2007 06:31 PM

Yeah. I lost a lot of weight, but not in the right way and now i've put it back on again so I want to loose it in the right way this time so it stays off.

I'm a member of a gym, so I do all the exercise, it's just the discipline in eating. Hopefully things will go well. I know it takes time but I know if I stick at it I can do it.

My mom and I joined weight watchers in March, I believe. I lost alot through it and am at my ten percent goal right now. I love it, it is definitely working for us.
The thing I like about it is, there isnt much discipline to it, in my mind. You can basically eat what you want as long as you dont go over your points. And even then you have a certain number of freebie points you can use.
As long as you stick to the program, it will be rewarding.

Airlyeth 11-06-2007 06:49 PM

A part of me is kinda scared about going, but then i'm excited at the same time.
I know I'm doing this for me and not for anything else and that's what's so scary because I don't want to fail.
I know, I'm pathetic.

Oh how I despise the weight watchers adverts.

*Is of no help whatsoever*

Useless Information 101 11-06-2007 08:43 PM

Hahaha yeah those commercials are a bit annoying.
I was really scared about going too but everyone was so nice and it was a really comfortable atmosphere. I actually look forward to the meetings every week, even if I didnt do so well.
You wont fail, most people actually drop alot of weight in their first week because of the transition.
Youll do great :)

My mother is a member of Weight Watchers and she has always done well on it.
Just stick to the programme and the amount of points.
Mum used to eat quite a lot, and be fairly big but she says the plan doesn't feel restricting at all.
And she has lost a lot.
I hope it goes well.

I know a few people who have/are doing weight watchers and all of them have lost weight from it.
Best of luck with it.

blacktyrtle 12-06-2007 12:55 AM

My mom and I did weight watchers together a while back, and it really helped me a lot. When I went off to school the one up there wasn't nearly as helpful though, and they told me I was losing weight too fast, and I kind of quit after that. I guess it just depends on the people really.

Thank you everyone.
Me and mum are joining tonight so I will let you know how my first meeting went. I'm a bit nervous but it's now or never. I know that. I am going to do this.

Thank you all again.

random.swirls 12-06-2007 12:43 PM

Good luck with it :D

I have heard good things about it and although I have never been the fact that it is points based meaning you have control over your food choices is good :)

Airlyeth 12-06-2007 08:40 PM

I told you i'd keep you posted, so here I am.
I've bit the bullet and gone and just got back and it wasn't half as scary as I expected it to be. I'm rather looking forward to going back next week and seeing how i've done. I really hope I don't bomb, I'm not planning on it but I do suck when it comes to food.

I get 27 points..I know, I'm fat! I think I can keep well within that but I want to stick to it, instead of saving up, which I only wanna do on the odd occasion. Here's to stuffing my face. Honestly, I tallied u my morning and I'm planning on six points which leaves 21 for the rest of the day! Which I suppose is not too bad. Leaves an even spread of about 10.5 points for lunch and dinner, including snacks and milk. I don't know how I'm gonna eat that much but I can certainely try!!

I know, I have rambled. But I'm excited so wooo :hop:

I think WeightWatchers is a lot better than most of the faddy diet plans which don't re-educate you about your eating habits, so the weight stays off long-term and you don't feel deprived cos you can have treats etc. Good luck with it all!

Glad ur first meeting went ok for you. Keep up the good work and gud luck with it all

I want to do Weight Watchers. How does the cost thing work? The site's information doesn't seem as informative to me as I would like. :(

~ Mandy ~ 12-06-2007 11:14 PM

I've just started going to Weight Watchers. It's £4.95 a week, and you can either just get weighed, or stay for the meeting.
I've only lost a pound so far, but that's because I've gone over my Points some days. I've found that I haven't had to change a great deal about my meals, if you do the points you can eat what you want, as long as it's under however many you're allowed.

Day Tripper 12-06-2007 11:20 PM

Do you have to buy special, pointed food?
