any tips - literally...
i was wondering if anyone had tips on keeping nails strong. mine are forever flaking and i really want them to stay nice.
so if anyone has nice nails and nice tips as to how to get them that way maybe you can you can share it :) :smurf: |
Oowek, I used to have that problem quite badly, though they're better now. I suggest eating/drinking lots of calcium enriched foods of course, but also that you make sure your cuticles are pushed back - the skin that grows from the finger onto the base of the nail, that way your nails should grow from the nail base instead of the tips therefore growing stronger.
Thats what I've done *shrugs* other than that just keep them clipped regulary, don't bite them and look after them. Hope that helps. x |
Theres nail varnishs that harden your nails. Some nail varnishs have nail hardener in them too.
The stuffs not cheap but it does the job! Makes your nails grow longer too if thats what you'd like. :) |
Taking vitamins can help keep your nails healthy. I also know that prenatal vitamins will help make them as well as your hair grow out more quickly, but be careful, because they can cause skin break outs. Good luck.

I hate my nails. I have the same problem.
vitamins help. So do those special nails polishes they make for thin nails. |
Using handcream can sometimes help (my aunt does it) and the nail hardening nail varnishes are usually pretty good.

thanks people :) i've tried the nail varnishes, but it just peels off and dries out my nails.
i do try to use vitimin e oil on them (well since i have it around anyway) i heard somewhere it helps. i also heard that bio oil helps so i've tried that too (again i have it sitting around anyway) i don't know if they have actually helped or worked, but they seem to make a difference i think. |
How well / healthily do you eat? Normally this is a sign of non perfect diet.
Taking Vitamin E is what you need, as that is the main vitatin used to build hair and nails - also using a cuticle/nail cream with Vit E in it would probably also help. You can get it in liquid capsules - and it is also useful for reducing scars :) Hope that helps! Moved this to GSA too, more suitable location Harley |
Yeah same thing happens to me. Theres two things that ive tried. One is a cream called "Nunale cream" which I got from Boots. You rub it onto the nail 2 or 3 times a day and less when the nails actually get stronger. Another thing I have is like a nail vanish called "Nailoid nail hardener" Which seems good. I cant really say which works best as I never carried on applying either of them. But I did feel a difference. Hope that helps!

Mayhaps you could take a vitamin such as hair, skin and nails.
|
Use a nail buffer...it makes your nails shiny and also stimulates blood up to the surface of the nail which transfers the vitamins to the nails and strengthens them
|
I'm in the same situation, Because of work, I'm not allowed to wear any nail varnish, so that's out of the question. Not tried the hand cream yet - will gie that a go.

The nail harder worls a bit, also the nail harder creames which you can get from Boots and Super drug and places like that also help.
Also every so often just file your nails a little bit and keep then in shape so that they are unlikely to catch something and break. Also by keeping them out of water for long periods of time will help them not to get soft and break. Calcium should also work =) I have long nails and the best thing i do is to just keep filing them and putting the nail hardener on them =) xx |
i read somewhere that dipping your hand in olive oil help :S
but vitamin e is really good, :D |
i change my diet slightly and it helped, i still get the old nail that flakes but apart from that i have no problems.
i also started taekin multivitamin chewy things and that helped hope all the advise works |
apparently if you eat some cubes of jelly regularly... it strengthens your nails...!!
and there are creams and nail varnishes good luck = ] x |
