Gah! (rant. Non trig)

I have had it up to here. Am going on holiday in july. Not really out of choice. Was going to go see my parents in october. But j's parents have booked it for july. The thought, sweet enough, but i was planning on going in october when the weather wouldn't be too much for D. They knew that, but went ahead, booked the flight in july, and instead of just me, j D and my parents, we now have j's parents coming along. Don't nine that so much, but it's a case of j and his stepmum do not get on. She's constantly on his back about things that happened 15 years ago. So i'm dreading a week of it. July, as well. The whole reason i said we were going october, and they know this, is because any earlier in cyprus is going to be too warm for an infant. But no, they book it for their convenience, not D's safety and comfort. They won't change the booking either. But hey. What does my opinion matter. I'm only his mother.

Is there no way you can transfer the tickets until October?

I refuse to travel with my parents but that is another story. My mom still is on my case about things that happened when I was a small child. So i'm not talking to my mom until she learns to mind her manners, if then.

Do what you think is best for your little one!

Unfortunately, j's dad booked the tickets and his wife just thinks i'm overreacting. Neither of them have ever been out to cyprus, so they don't know about the fact it was too warm for me last year in september, apart from what i've told them. So they don't really believe it will be too hot for a six month old baby in july. Thing is, by then the temperatures are near on 40 c. But j's stepmum always assumes she knows best. Even when it comes to my son.

Okay, I'll have my husband convert that to Farenheit for me. Sorry I don't know metric. Except I know that 50C is 120F. That is because European tourists to Death Valley often take their photo in front of a giant thermometer at Stovepipe Wells, to impress the folks back home. Death Valley is beautiful in winter and absolutely cooked rock ugly in summer.

Since it is in the Mediterranean, I bet that it is 40C of humid heat too. Will you look up how to treat heat illnesses before you go?

I don't think it is just a matter of the numbers on the thermometer, it is what the person is used to, baby, child, or adult. I don't think you're overreacting. Heat illnesses are miserable to deadly. As his mother you are the first person to know what is healthy for your baby as well as yourself.

I have plenty of personal experience with heat illness. I live in a climate that is nearly as hot as Cypress but without as much humiditiy. Phoenix, if you want to talk about heat illness etc, feel free to PM me.
