Stuff You Wish You'd Been Told Before Starting Uni

-That the student union bar becomes more liek a home.
-That even though I don't live in halls I spend more time there than at home
-Fire alarms are not there to save your life.
-Money doesn't last forever.

anymore?

Voldemort 12-02-2008 08:19 PM

- No one wants to sleep at the same time as you do
- Bathroom sinks are NOT a good place to have sex. They WILL break easily. (Not my experience, I may add here)
- You won't always have enough money for food, but there's always enough for a drink

Erm. I'm sure there are more.

bobidrawpictures 12-02-2008 08:21 PM

drink and drugs go hand in hand with missing weeks of lectures week after week (or maybe that was just me last year?)

The Hierophant 12-02-2008 08:21 PM

AMY YES AGREED.

-Sleeping under tables in actually quiet comfortable.
-Someone, somewhere can always out drink you.

Mrs Sam 12-02-2008 08:24 PM

-burger king is a fine breakfast food

Voldemort 12-02-2008 08:24 PM

- Naps become a needed luxury
- The regular conventions of a 'daily' routine become pointless
- 3am really IS the best time to be doing important Uni work

The Hierophant 12-02-2008 08:26 PM

Paying over two pound for a pint or infact any drink becomes unreasonable.
(Or is that just me?)

user_friendly 12-02-2008 08:33 PM

haha no thats me aswell! unless its jagermeister then i make allowences lol

* The internet is your friend ( you wont believe how many money off vouchers ive got lol)

*That no matter how much effort i put in at the beginning of a project i will panic a week before it is due in.

scaredofme 12-02-2008 08:40 PM

*Nobody cares if you sleep through lectures, being there is plenty enough, because nights out are waaaaaaay more important.

*Yes, the most important part of uni is the night-life.

Ash* 12-02-2008 08:42 PM

5 people sleeping in a double bed? Not a problem.
Too wet, too cold, too hot, too windy, too bright etc WILL be used as excuses for not going to lectures.
You'll travel miles to a party without a problem, but 5 minutes down the road to a lecture? Hell no.
You will go home and declare your love to a washing machine that works.
A fridge with FOOD in becomes a thing of the past.
You'll wake up in bed (not always yours) with a lovely array of posters, other people's shoes etc and declare it a jolly good night.
You'll have exams and not recognise 60%+ of the people there/didn't realise that more then 15 people did your course.

scaredofme 12-02-2008 08:42 PM

Oh, and,

*You will spend all your money straight away, even if you plan on not doing, then you will live on nothing for a few months, but somehow you will survive.

Accidentally Abstract 12-02-2008 08:48 PM

- Making friends is harder than you think.
- Always have your shoes nearby in case the fire alarm goes off (again).
- Naps are the way forward.
- Facebook will become the way you keep in contact with most people.
- You will love baths as soon as you get to uni and there isn't one any more.
- Doing your washing is expensive.

Tanya B 12-02-2008 08:55 PM

- Days WILL be lost due to severe hangovers.
- Water fights and stealing your flatmate's keys/bag/mattress becomes the norm.
- If you don't stick a note to your food in the fridge, it will not be there in the morning.
- You end up only cleaning your room once every 3 months just in time for the flat inspections.
- Forgetting what day it is will become the norm.
- You diet will consist of Asda's 8p SuperNoodles and bread.
- Asda Price vodka is a godsend when your money is low.

In all seriousness, I wish I'd believed people when they said I'd have the time of my life. All those hours, MONTHS I wasted worrying! Pffft.

Haha truuuuue! When I lived back home, I'd happily pay £3.50 for a drink down at the local, but now anything over a quid is pushing the boat out. Student nights at pubs are a godsend <3

The Hierophant 12-02-2008 08:58 PM

-Food parcels are your saviour
-There are many good looking people about to watch.
-Talking to strangers is easier with a pint in your hand.

I don't think my student pub serves any drink piced over £2 (or one that I will drink anyway).
Hence it becoming my second home.

-No matter how much you eat, aparently you are still malnurished when you visit the doctors.

I LOVE THEM! Seriously, 8p for a pack of noodles. That's like, ten packs, for less than a POUND.

- You'll get over excited about how cheap you can buy food...

The Hierophant 12-02-2008 09:05 PM

-Acting like a child is fun again (including dress up, throwing eggs/flour/ water bombs etc)

Queen Crabbit 12-02-2008 09:17 PM

-INDEPENDANCE. No more having to be okayed by the rents to go out and ****.
-Cheap drinks.

Clearly the most amazing thing ever created. Speaking of cheap food...

- You will soon learn that Aldi and Lidl are your new best friends.
