my school nurse suggested valerian to me when i wasn't sleeping much I didn't try it cause I didn't have any money but it might help. It's supposed to be better if you get it from a health type shop but they often have it in some form in places like boots.

I tried Valerian several times and it did make me sleepy - I also always felt intensely irritable the next day. Melantonin was much better by far.

i havent slept properly in about 2 yrs it really gets me down, i tend to wake up at about 3 every nite no matter what time i go to bed. my doctor refused to help but i have tried homeopathic remedies and some of them were quite gd. but after a couple of months they stopped workin on me, but you could giv it a go.

Warm baths, warm drinks, relaxing music, doing exercise before you go to bed. You can try all that stuff.

If your tablets aren't working though, why on't you go back to the doctor and get different ones?

I have the same problem. Haven't slept properly in a year and a half. Take care.

I posted a thing about a sleep journal on this thread http://www.recoveryourlife.com/forum...ead.php?t=3122

might help, maybe?

Also keeping a routine is important apparently

Yeah, I was having trouble sleeping and those worked really well for me. Not habit forming or anything either. Hope you figure something out.

i tryed spendin a hour or even half an hour before bed relaxin and reading a book or something like that. warm drinkd or a bath helped.

I'm the same. The odd thing is, the more sleep I get, the more tired I feel.

You might want to do something relaxing (like reading) before going to bed.

Ask the doctor about Melatonin it's a natural substance given in tablet form, it's a hormone produced by your body. I take it. I took it before I got it on precribed it as you can get it it without prescription in the US.

I second this. If you go bed straight after doing an activity that engages your brain then your mind will still be active and you'll never get to sleep. If you set aside some time to wind down before you sleep it'll really help.

Also, start getting yourself into a routine and start going to bed at the same time every night, even if you think you arent tired. After a while your body will settle in the pattern and your body clock should return to normal helping you sleep more.

Try not to eat/drink sugary things or stuff full of caffiene about an hour before you go to sleep as that will only keep you awake.
