How to talk to my GP about this

Hi

Ive recently been put on a waiting list for counselling re my SI and everything that comes with it. However Ive got to wait for about 3 more months (Ive been waring since December) and to be hoenst Im really really stuggling with things at the moment. Ive emailed the place and theyve recommended that I talk to my GP and that they should refer me to a special unit in town that deals with things like this. However Ive just moved to this town and only just literally this week registered with a GP, so whereas Im anxious to get this sorted out cos Im really sick of living the way I am at the moment, but I have no idea whatsoever how to talk to a GP whom Ive never met before in my life about these kinds of things.

So please, suggestions?

thanks

its best just to go see him. I did it very sly. I had a lump on one of my scars, and i asked the doc about it he said its scar tissue then asked where the scar came from , i said self harming, and he was pretty nice to me. You could try that i suppose? but it's probs just best to tell him straight out.
