Celexa Withdrawal
I recently stopped taking Celexa (citalopram). I was taking 40mg for 9 months, and stopped because I couldn't afford all of my meds and it seemed to be making me more depressed (though it helped with anxiety). Anyway, I cut it down to 20mg for a few days, then down to zero. This is what my doctor said to do.
I am now suffering AWFUL withdrawal symptoms. I don't care about some of the less bothersome ones: flushing, tinnitus, slight tremor. What I care about is that I'm having these weird "whooshing" sounds when I move my eyes or head, flutters in my heart that also cause whooshing, fever that lasts about an hour, dizziness, and mania (though that might just be part of my bipolar and not a side effect). Does anyone else have experience with this? What I'm trying to figure out is how long this is going to last. I'm beginning to think that it might be awhile. Also, if you've had these withdrawal symptoms, was mania ever one of them? Back to my whooshing. D'Arcy. |
