Good to Bad

A couple of months ago my mum found out that i was cutting myself (after 3 years of me doing so) she said if it happened again then she'd take me to the doctors. Of corse it happened again and a doctors appointment later i'm going to see a pysiciatrist (can't spell it sorry) in july.
For the past 2 weeks i've been cutting nearly every day and tried to overdose (but even failed to that) ! I feel so down and just can't seem to even attempt to stop! I'm glad i got help but i don't see how they wil help me if i can't seem to be able to help myself!
Do things usually get worse before they get better? because I see no way out at the moment :crying:
Any advice or anything will be helpful I just need anything
Thanks

p.s hope i posted it in the right place !!

In my experience, yes things get worse before they get better. The only thing I can really think of to say is that just makes the "better" that much sweeter.

I know what it's like to be in your shoes, cutting every day and overdosing. That was exactly me several years ago. I didn't get help, but I'm almost positive that if I had, I wouldn't have been sick for so long. I wish you all the best in your therapy, and just remember: Don't resist the people who try to help you. If you can work with them, and if you trust them, then together maybe you can do what you don't think you can do alone.

Please don't resist the people who try to help you. I did that for six years- it was hell. Please don't make my mistake. Things do seem to get worse before they get better, but they will get better- and they'll get better a lot faster if you let the psychiatrist help you!

Right now you are probably trapped in this coping strategy that isn't the healthiest, because that's what you know, its the only way for you right now to handle your feelings. I am glad that your overdose 'failed' and that you are getting help. The psychiatrist will most probably help you reconnect with the part of you that wants to get better. I sense from what you say that you know part of you does want to feel better, but its distanced from you now. You will hopefully learn other coping mechanisms, and maybe be given some medication to relieve some of the worst of your raw and despairing feelings.

Forget the worse, the important word is better.
and deep down you know you want to be better more than anything, right? you want to be happy, right? you dont want to have to hide anything, right? You just have to let them help you.
PM me and tell me how it goes.

You said that you are glad they gonna help you, and that makes me very happy, course thats a big step in the right direction. just keep fighting forward! Sometimes things seems to get worse before they get good. as they say, after rain comes sunshine!

and your mum just want to help you, show that she care :)

try to listen to what the psychologist says... and always tell him or her the truth! in the beginning maybe you don't know how they can help you, but they know, and they can if you just help them a bit on the way by being honest and listen to their advise.

good luck, and tell us how it goes.
here if you need to talk .
