Cooking help - shallow frying
 
I'm a complete noob to cooking (I can microwave, shove stuff in the oven, and just-about-cook pasta
so today I bought scampi without checking how it would cook, and it turns out it doesnt go in the oven -/. So, how do you shallow fry something?
please please please tell me its simple!

You get a frying pan, put some oil in the pan, until it's aout 2-3mm deep, shove it on a hob, and fry until golden brown.

I just realised our frying pan is gross. after cooking sausages in it it wasnt cleaned -/
