sterilisation question
hi everyone,
i don't really know where this should go in here or first aid how do you clean/sterlise your blade/knife before and after you use it. i just want to know if i'm doing it right. i use boiling water. thanks IM x |
i got a big tub thing of antibacterial wipes and just clean all the blood and stuff off with those, but boiling water is fine 2.
I use peroxide, but boiling it in water sounds like it would work fine too. If you're still not sure, you could clean it with some sort of anti-bacterial solution afterwards.
Take care! xoxo |
alcohol and cotton balls...
Boiling in water would not fully steralise your blades.
wow so im not the only one...w ho cuts and contradicting as it is... cleans their blades and worries about getting it infected... so freaking weird i think but i do it to. i sterilize my blades. i put them in fire. i like take a light or a match and run the blade through it a few times... careful so u dont burn urself...
I feel really bad now. I have never sterilizied my blades.
I don't... =\
Unless you plan on boiling your blades in bleach water for 8 hours you're not sterilizing them.
However, you are sanitizing them, and in that case 30 minutes of boiling water will suffice. |
boiling water does not sterilize instruments. In order for things to become sterile, they have to be properly cleaned and disinfected, and then the item has to reach a temperature of well over 270 degrees, for a certain amount of time, or certain gasses like ETO, Paracetic Acid, and stuff must be used in the right conditions. Although, boiling them, when it is your own stuff your cleaning, is probably fine...( I work for the operating room ,sterilizing all their stuff...just in case anyone wants to know where I get the info)
