Help?
 

Can anyone recommend any good treatment programs in the US? Preferrably in Illinois. I'm having a difficult time finding one. I've been communicating with a clinical therapist from the SAFE program, which seems to be one of the best establishments out there. However, in light of my personal situation, she recommends that I go through a 30 day intensive program... IN TEXAS. I live in Chicago, so that's just not an option. This month has been VERY bad for me, as far as SI & self-medicating goes. I'm in a very bad place and recognize that I need help. And soon! I just don't know how to go about getting it... I've spent 9 years convincing myself that I don't need help... Now that I do, I don't know where to go... =|

honestly? i would say dont go to SAFE at all... I was there a year ago and while i was there they let a patient commit suicide on their watch. They had no plan set for what to do when that happened and the whole program shut down while a handful of patients were still in it. instead of releasing us they threw us onto the psych ward and kept us there. my father had to fly out from MD to demand they let me go(i'm an adult by te way). I wish i had some better advice...but there aren;t many treatment options available in the US. I;m sorry...

Wow, that's awful. And disheartening, to say the least. I'm sorry you had to go through that. It's hard when you're reaching out for help and all you get is s***, *h**, and more **i*. Thanks for the warning though. And it's terrible how little help there is available in this "land of opportunity." I've heard wonderful things about programs in Europe... heh.

the only other program i have heard anything about Mercy Ministries but its a heavily based Christian program so unless your into that...check out TWLOHA.com they have a section about getting help that may be of more assistance...
