Separation anxiety?
So recently I have noticed myself hovering closer to my mum whenever I am out of the house. I had/have attachment disorder/abandonment issues from early childhood trauma, but it had gotten a lot better over the past several years. now whenever I leave the house I either need to have my favourite comfort teddy in my bag (even though I'm 18, nearly 19) or I need to be so close to my mum that I am practically attached to her. whenever neither of these things is the case I can feel myself getting extremely nervous/anxious and stressed as though something bad is going to happen, though I couldn't tell you what, when, or why.
My mum is a very judgemental person and I can tell she is getting annoyed with how clingy I have become over the past few months or so, but I honestly can't seem to help it. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, how did you deal with it? |
I haven't dealt with this personally but as you've not had any responses I thought it might be worth me replying anyway!
Sorry that your mum is judgemental and doesn't seem to be understanding of your clinginess, that's sounds really hard. What helped you in the past when you were getting a lot better? I wonder if anything that helped then would help now. It's probably painful to have the insight that you have into this but also it is good that you can identify that it's becoming problematic and hopefully start to challenge it. Is there anything wrong with having your comfort teddy in your bag? Maybe that's something you can rely on for the moment? |
