Trouble
I am in hospital as an outpatient and once a week i have a one tto one session on top of other groups like cbt and drama therapy
this week my homework was not to cut more than twice and to hidwe it from family members so far iv3e cut once but tonight i really feel the need to its been a bad night, ive no problem with hiding it i have a secondary place where it would be hidden but im scared of cuting coz it would take away my safety net of one night |
I don't have any advice, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry that you are in a difficult place at the moment, and I hope you find the strength to make the right choices for you. I can understand the dilema you are in, I've been in similar and its a tough place to be.

thank byou that someone else has experienced similar problems means a lot i just want to be told dnt cut thers no need to cut but right now i crave th relief of emotions that is achieved by cutting

Perhaps you could try some differnt methods of realise whilst you are feeling this way. Distraction is a greaat thing. Films, games ect. Or perhpas try writting everything which is on your mind, every little thing which comes into it. Or draw or colouru.
Do something which involves you fully focusing on it. That way you may be able to go without cuttting even touogh you feel like you need to. Take care Kim |
In the short term (next five minutes) cutting may help slightly, but would it make a difference in the long term?
I know how bloomin' hard it is to get through times like this, but it is possible. You need never cut again - I try to remember that when I'm in that 'zone'. Its hard, painful and horrible, but you CAN not cut. Would talking about why you feel like cutting help? Sometimes I find just telling someone what has triggered me helps. It some how makes things seem smaller when I tell someone else. I wish I'd have talked to someone before I cut yesterday. A few hours later the relief was gone and I was left with more emotional pain than I had before. |

I'm finding art therapy to be very helpful. I'm just using colored pencils and a drawing pad and getting my ideas down. In my case my psych asked me to draw all of the monstors that haunt me. I came up with another and the images to go with it. I also have a bit of a collage I want to draw representing a bunch of related stuff that happened.
It doesn't matter how the drawing looks. It is just a way of expressing yourself. If this doesn't work, i'm sorry, Have a bear hug too. |
