Medications and pregnancy

Hello everyone. I've recently found out I'm pregnant and I'm on a couple of psychiatric medications. I'm waiting to be able to tell my care coordinator and to be referred to the perinatal psychiatry team. I'm feeling very anxious about the medications I'm on and what effects they could have on my baby.

Does anyone have any experience of being on Quetiapine and/or Venlafaxine during pregnancy? What kind of dose(s) were you on and did it affect your pregnancy?

Thank you in advance.

I don't know the effects it might have so I would probably talk to a doctor asap just to make sure it won't have any negative effects on the baby.

Hi, try not to worry. I would read the leaflets that come with your medication to see if they mention pregnancy and make an appointment with your gp if you are still worried and can't speak to your care coordinator soon.

If you can't get to your GP, a pharmacist should be able to inform you of risks and how promptly you should speak to your prescribing doctor about a medication plan for your pregnancy.

Good luck and congratulations!
