I am new to this site & am looking for support and information

My 13 yr old daughter was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, depressive type along with panic and anxiety disorder.

She has attempted to take her life twice now. Her main antipsychotic medication is risperdone and on the 2nd attempt they just increased her dosage. I am so scared for her. Luckily I work at home and can monitor a lot of her behavior but of course I cannot monitor her 24/7. She has voices and I am told what happened was they came back after her grandfathers passing last week and triggered her 2nd attempt. Does anyone have any advice for a worried mom?

I'm sorry your daughter is struggling so much. That must be really hard for you.

If you go back a page at the top there will be a button called 'new thread'. You can make yourself a thread where you might get more replies and support and advice as this is someone elses (mine) thread so you might not get the replies you need here.

I'll report your post above to the mods and they can make it into it's own thread in the same board - they'll probably send you a private message about it explaining it all.

Good luck :)

Hi

This seems like a lot of diagnoses for such a young person. Very sad.

All you can do is what you are doing already, seeking help and support, cause its hard, and that's not going to change. Teen life is hard for all involved so when you add mental ill health and grief you got a bloody minefield.

But, it's not all bad, you care and want to know more, so just listen and accept. I assume you are under a CAMHS team if there is meds so use them, use them to talk and use them to help you understand. I work in CAMHS, i'm almost 100% certain they will do everything they can to help you.

And, take care of yourself in all of this.
