Safe Box

At my CPN appointment it was suggested I make a safe box for when I feel triggered/suicidal.
She suggested putting things in that remind me of when I was strong. An example she gave was my nursing degree and a copy of my flat key so I can remind myself of what I have achieved. She said it would help me remember that life is worth living.
Was just wondering if anyone else has something similar as I can't think of what to fill it with?

You could put pictures in it of good times.
And messages from people who care about you.

I have a happy box. I think your CPN's suggestions are good :)

In mine I have pictures of happy times and cards and letters that remind me I'm loved, like Wonderland. suggested. I have things that remind me of things I've achieved; a couple of articles I've written, and awards from uni. A book of suggestions for wellbeing, a really cute little book called '14000 things to be happy about'. A teddy that my mum gave me and a couple of handmade things from friends.

I've got things to help me stay distracted if I need to; a sketch book, chalk, pencils, a colouring book, extreme dot to dot.

Sensory things: lavender essential oil, a stress ball, play doh, bubbles, sea glass.

Probably other things too, I'll check later and come back to this!

I think it's a nice thing to have; you don't have to completely fill it up to start with, mine has been added to over several years.

Hannah has wonderful ideas :)

You could also put inspirational/recovery quotes in there.

And perhaps a list of things that make you feel good.

I have a happy box which is a similar concept.

I got my friends to write cards to put in it. I have a couple of photos from celebrities because it makes me happy to think that they took the time to sign a photo for me. Two are personalised.

Thanks this has been really helpful.
I've now got my nursing degree, medals from charity walks and some family photos. I've also gone down the distraction rout of a colouring and puzzle book.
I think I'm going to take a soft toy to my mums and spray some of her perfume on it and pop that in there.

It sounds like you've got some good items in it.

And remember you can always add to it over time :)
