Hi everyone, my name is Suzanne and am mum to a 15 year old daughter who has been self harming for over a year. She was recently diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder and features of Asperger's but we are currently waiting for another ASD assessment. At present she is refusing to go to school, get out of bed, shower and is eating very little. She is on 200mg of Sertraline per day and they now want to introduce Risperidone as well. No offer of counselling or education around her diagnosis has been offered. I have contacted MIND directly to access some counselling. I am concerned when she is low that she will hurt herself really badly as her last episode she used the biggest kitchen knife to cut the top of her right arm. Am just looking for somewhere I can talk and understand why she does this and also to encourage her to join the group also so she has lots of positivity in her life x

It's great that you are trying to get the right help advice and support for you daughter, make sure you take care of yourself as well, this can be a difficult time for those around the person struggling as well.
