st john's wort

I have bought some SJW today. It is max strength (425mg daily). Does anyone have any experience with this?

I tried it for a little while. I didn't notice any effects, but I didn't stick with it for more than about a month. I wonder if I should have given it more of a chance. It was a long while back now though...

Just be careful if you take anything else because SJW reacts with a lot of other medicines.

Yes if you take anything else check that it is ok with a pharmacist and do not take other antidepressants with it.

I tried it but it didn't work for me, I believe it's most suitable for mild-moderate depression and unfortunately that was not suitable for me, but I wish you all the best

I know it takes 2-4 weeks to see an effect and also can't be taken with some other meds so speak to a pharmacist.

I echo what other's have said about interaction with medications.
Let us know how you get on with it. I hope it helps x

I've tried it years ago and had no effect. Personally I'm not a great believer in herbal remedies. You should look at the research into its efficacy, it's not highly proven to be effective. I'd suggest seeing a health professional for any low mood symptoms and see what they suggest.

It can interact with some contraceptions - so really check all medication interactions (some people forget that contraception is medication too!)

I think I tried it once, can't remember how it was though.

Where did you buy it from? Some preparations are nortoriously unreliable in their content, especially from health food shops. Also there are loads of CYP450 enzyme interactions.
