Olanzapine and sleeping

I'm on 20mg of olanzapine and im sleeping 16 - 18 hours a day.
I'm losing whole days sometimes because I just sleep the whole day.
I wasn't that bad on 10mg so it maybe dose related.
Struggling to have a normal life because I'm so sleepy and sedated.
Does this happen to anyone else?
Should I speak to my psych about it?

Olanzapine is one of the most sedating antipsychotics, so it may be worth mentioning it to your psych if you are being affected this much by it.

I was really sedated on olanzapine. Had been on it three years and didn't realise how bad it was until I came off of it and onto something else. There might be something to can do, so I'd mention it to your psychiatrist.

Clozapine, quetiapine and olanzapine are pretty sedating meds.

It took me a long time to get to now when I can sleep 7 hours a day without problem, on 20mg olanzapine.

Do you have a routine / structure in your life? As my routines keep me from retreating to my bed.

I wouldn't advise excessive caffeine though as that can cause anxiety.

What about exercise? And also drinking ice cold water and going outside in bright sunlight help me too.
