Long term damage? How much is too much?
If anyone knows anything about long term consequences of drugs and combining drugs, I'd like some input. At the moment I smoke pot every day (only about a gram a week now, I've cut back a lot), drink almost every other day (40-50 drinks a week), and take speed and painkillers a few times a week (no more than 5 pills a week). I also mix them together and take combinations of 2, 3, or 4 of these drugs at least twice a week.
I know that doing this stuff can't be good for me, but I'd like to know just how bad this is, and what will happen to me if I don't stop. And also, what would happen if I did stop, say, tomorrow? At the moment I do not believe that I have a serious problem (it is not affecting my work or social life,) but I would like to hear what people have to say. |
Personally I'd be afraid for my lungs from the smoking, and liver from the drinking. Paracetomal is bad for you liver if taken more than needed.
If you stopped tommorrow you might feel crappy, cos even if you're not physically addicted you may be psychologically. It's hard to say exactly how much damage you're doing cos it varies from person to person. Maybe, just maybe, you can offset some of the damage by eating a nutritious diet and detoxing? And keeping your mental state in check. |
well other the the mass physical damage you are doing on yr lungs, liver kidneys brain well just about every organ in your body really, there are also emence psychological effects that can occur from substance use

You say it isn't a serious problem. Are you being honest when you say that? I was a functioning alcoholic - I still had my friends, family, home etc. The real trouble was in my head - the insanity of my addiction was in full force on the inside. What is it like in your head?
Its always best to seek the advice of a qualified medical professional when getting clean/sober. I'd recommend you talk to your doctor, they may want to observe you or prescribe something while you detox. In my experience, there are only 3 places an addiction can lead - death, complete insanity or recovery. I know which of those options look better to me! My alcoholism is a progressive illness - over any significant period of time, it always gets worse, never better. If I were to drink again, I'd continue on that downward spiral. |
Cannabis causes psychosis, sometimes permanent schizophrenia in long term use. People say it will never happen to them, but the majority of people in hospital with me over the course of 3 years had pot induced psychosis. There is some long explanation why, but I can't remember it.
