Engagement and mother.
 

I've been engaged since april but moneys only just come together to be able to afford a ring due to various reasons. We both agreed to not telling anyone until there's a ring to avoid bitchy comments.

Anywho - I rang my mum early hours of new years day piping on how I'm getting married but the bf doesn't know about it yet & all this other shiite, as the pissed up moron I was. :wow:

We figured out later on new years day that money is good to go now - only one slight issue: how do I tell my mum I'm engaged after new years eve's phonecall without her thinking that I'm just taking the piss? :blush:

Just tell her, reassure her you're not kidding and explain you're buying a ring but have been waiting for the money.
Eventually she'll believe you. - even if it's not until she sees the ring!

I agree with Aimee. You could even say "this is awkward because I think I said something like this to you when I was drunk at New Year, but I am actually engaged".

Possibly depends on how awkward it would be, but buy a ring and turn up at hers and say "Oh, I have something to show you."
