Goals for 2015

Just wondering what people's goals are for next year?

Also, have you completed any goals you set for 2014? What have you done this year to make you feel proud?

Great thread :) I love this idea!

This year I started volunteering which has been a long term goal and have really enjoyed it.
I also moved in with my partner which was very anxiety provoking so proud of myself for taking that step despite anxiety. We also got a puppy and it's been a goal of mine to be healthy enough to have a dog and I am at last, at least mental health wise!

For 2015, I don't have any specific goals set except to focus on making my body as healthy as it can be so I know I need to lose some weight (healthily) and look at more nutritious foods so I guess one goal would be that and to cook at home more.

Another goal is to feel less conscious of things with my partner due to my anxiety by the end of 2015 but we shall see!

I can't remember if I set any goals last year (they were clearly not at the forefront of my mind this year...) but in 2015 my goal definitely needs to be to fully engage with the new worker I will be assigned to. And a couple of boring teaching goals, but I'm sure no one wants to hear about those!

This year I'm proud of completing my first year of teaching and being free of self harm.

Wha about you whirlpools? (Only 99% certain of your name as usual sorry, so went for username!)

Lottie- cooking at home is great! We've started cooking meals instead of buying ready meals and my relationship with food has improved so much because I've enjoyed it and I also feel better in myself, though that could be a placebo!

I tend to set academic year goals, but these are my 14/15 ones:
  • To be more personable (this includes learning colleagues names, people things, etc!)
  • To do more things (sociably)
  • Join a new hobby.

I probably said to remain SI free, which so far I have done.

My next year's goal is also to remain SI free.

main goal for the new year is to change job roles and return to the profession i trained in, hopefully in a substance use role or school based.

i think in regard to my recovery my main goal is to not doubt myself, i think my confidence and self esteem levels reached a low point again this year so its time to build them up

My goal is to lose weight in a healthy way before May. Also to recover from self harm.

Excellent thread :)

I found the one from last year, my goals were:

Quote:

- Get a job! (Preferably before next year though!)
- Don't self harm & work hard on being a normal functioning adult
- Meet more people & make friends where I'm living now

& run my half marathon without dying!
All of which I have achieved, I think. I am employed and have only had three weeks off for mental health reasons. Not perfect but definitely not terrible.

I haven't self harmed and generally I function much better these days. I still struggle but that's okay. I have a better attitude to the problems I have, I think, which makes a lot of difference.

I've made a huge effort to get out more and I have met more people and made some new friends. I also met my wonderful boyfriend (thanks to RYL :P)

Oh, and I did the half marathon and raised a few hundred pounds for the Mental Health Foundation, which I never actually thought I could do!

I feel like I have spent most of this year constantly pushing myself to live outside my comfort zone and it is HARD. But it's also so very worthwhile and I am honestly really proud of what I've achieved this year.

For 2015, I would like to continue working on the same things. I will hopefully be getting counselling in January and I want to engage with that and work on dealing better with my lows (and highs, I guess).

I am applying to go back to uni to do mental health nursing, so I would like to get a place and be cleared by OH and start that in September!

I have just joined a gym and I want to work on getting fitter and losing some weight (I am overweight and I genuinely want to be healthier). I'm aiming to run another half marathon with a better time and start training for a marathon.

I would like to be more organized and work on having a better routine and sleep hygiene and getting things done in advance rather than at the last minute, since I think all of that would have a positive effect on my mental health (and probably everyone else's :P).

eta: I also aim to live more mindfully, be more fully present, and say yes to more things I would normally avoid.

I dont have many goals but aim to stay out of hospital and find a job where I have decent hours and can plan to be more social and enjoy life more.

My goal for 2014 was to stay on my course and not need any more time off. *check*

My goal for 2015 is to be in a position to finish my course to the deadline.

I tried to say "yes" to more things in 2014 and I'd like to continue to do this in 2015.

I'm due to be discharged from my team in May so I'd like to cope on my own.

I'd like to get better at getting up in the mornings and not inflict pre-coffee me on my office mates!

I'd like to keep in better contact with my family.

I'd like to lie less.*

I'd like to have less reasons to lie.*

*not lying on here, but telling white lies to friends and family mostly re. mh....maybe I should rephrase to be more honest...

Not sure what goals I had from last year :whistling: but here are some for this upcoming year:
  • Create and stick with a positive mental health journal (containing for example quotes, distractors, etc.)
  • Continue not to self harm (I haven't started yet, but it's an urge I struggle with)
  • Lose more weight in a healthy way
  • Do more yoga and elliptical training
  • Eat more fruits and veggies
  • Work on eating less animal products (already vegetarian, just trying to find a cheese substitute that tastes good lol)
  • Draw more! :-)
  • Make more embroidery floss bracelets :tongue2:

Wow, they all sound like amazing goals and achievements everyone. I wish you the very best of luck on your journeys.

I will have to come back to this to think about my achievements in 2014, but I do have some goals for 2015.

- get healthier and lose some weight slowly (am joining Slimming World tonight and plan to start swimming).
- be well enough to come off ESA/find a second job.
- save a bit of money to go on holiday with my partner.
- start CBT and learn to manage social anxiety better.
- raise money for charity (made this a goal last year but didn't achieve it).

Rodolphus 29-12-2014 05:26 PM

I've achieved much more this year than I planned to, so that's awesome. Well done to everyone who has achieved wonderful things and good luck to those who are setting goals for next year.

I plan on;
Getting married (ceremony is booked!)
Learn to rollerblade (Hahahahaha, I can't believe I'm serious about this.)
Continue a life without self destruction (3 years free in June)
Get healthier; keep improving my diet, exercise I can physically manage, start pilates, basically a massive self care kick.
Tattoo more.
Get more tattoos.
Generally just have another year that's been as ridiculously constructive as this one.

:]

You guys have great goals. My goals are to:

- Lose weight in a healthy way
- Learn how to solve the Rubik Cube I bought
- Be more social
- Spend less time on the internet

talaiporia 29-12-2014 06:57 PM

I have a Rubik cube! They are aweosme. :)

5432112345 29-12-2014 07:03 PM

I have a friend who is always solving them, so I decided to get one. I think I like taking it apart and putting it together more than trying to solve it. xD

motionless 30-12-2014 12:56 AM

-Be better with money
-Move out of supported accommodation
-Get fit and healthy

same goals that should have been done in 2014 because I promised them in 2013 :P

Dragon_Smoke 30-12-2014 03:07 PM

Get healthy

Do more with my time

This year I haven't taken time off work at all due to mental illness and came off my medication :)

KneeSocks 31-12-2014 08:54 PM

I didn't get to mark anything off my list from last year which is okay 'cause it made me stronger

My goals this year are
* Stop SH {I really want to reach my one year mark}
*Get a better job or promotion
*Become more social and do more things
*Find a hobby
*Push myself
