The Best Gift - A Poem Of My True Love
 

You came to me
wrapped like a present,
Quiet, by the side of the room,
Little did I know,
we'd be talking,
We'd be partners and lovers so soon

The days passed
in orderly fashion,
You wore them like I wear my past,
Patient but ever so
Hidden,
We opened each other at last

It happened when
we first were seeing
Connections we'd made through our eyes,
Confirmed by a song,
was the feeling,
But we both wore a friendly disguise

From that day we grew
Ever-closer,
Though I had a boy in my mind,
I knew that there was
something missing,
I needed a man in my life

My house became home
when you entered,
The second time and in the first,
Though it always returned
to a monster,
For a time, you had sated it's thirst

Just short of a year
had passed quickly,
One day I came in and I cried,
"I'm leaving the boy,
for, I need a man,
Who'll care and will fight by my side"

I knew at that point to
Unwrap you,
And take off your casing and lies,
I knew at that point
I was for you,
And that I had to say a goodbye

You are the best gift
I've gotten,
And I hope I can be of the same,
What you've gifted me with
Is a new chance,
To win in this life of a game

You have been
everything I need,
And everything I've wanted, too,
I hope that I provide
You with solace,
And give all of your love back to you

I love you with
all of my fibers,
And all hearts and souls in me too,
It will never tire me
to say this,
It's timeless to say I love you

You came to me
wrapped like a present,
The best gift I've ever received,
For love is the one thing
I needed,
And now I am loved and relieved

Dont think I am just saying this cause you put something nice on mine cause I really mean it when I say I really really like this!!

It flows nicely, I can almost here your tone throughout the words and the sentiment, particularly in the repeated (but slightly altered) stanza at the end!
