Keep forgetting appointments

I keep forgetting my physical health appointments.

Last night I set my alarm for 9am to get up for an appointment at 10am for my stomach.
I got up had a coffee and just sat. Then at 11am I remebered that I set my alarm for a reason... For this appointment.
This is not the first time I have done this this month.

I put everything in my diary and set alarms but even when they go off I forget why.
I see a lot of specialists at the moment (rehumatology, neurology and gastroenterology [also psychiciatry]) and I keep forgetting I have an appointment.

I don't know how to remind myself.
I mean I was up this morning for it and forget why I was up.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can remember to go because it is important that I go to them?
Anyone else have this issue?

Put post it notes everywhere with reminders! Stick one on your phone/kitchen cupboards/bathroom mirror, wherever you go in the mornings.x

Like griddlebone has suggested post it notes everywhere could help and also writing appointments on your phone as opposed to just an alarm and setting alarms to go off even after your up so you know exactly what you're doing that day. Though this depends on your phone ...

As Liv has said :)

I make paper notes and put them next to my phone and when I get up and carry my phone away I take the note. (And sometimes I stick it to my phone).
You could also set an alarm titled "leave for appointment" to go off when you have to leave

If you can put reminders on your phone alarms or even reminders in your phone could you do that.

I have a 'post it note' app on my phone so on my homepage (android phone) I can put a note there that I see whenever I open my phone. I put appointments there in advance so I see it a lot.

I have a whiteboard in my living room (in plain sight!) with all my appointments and things I have to do on it :)

Thanks guys.
I just downloaded a post it note app with an alarm for each event.
Hopefully that will help.

I feel so anxious and agitated now I've missed that appointment.
I'm not good with doing stuff in the morning.
I don't want to miss work just coz I forgot I needed to go.

I've had this happen to me a couple of times in the past but it was due to not setting my clock to getting up and not writing it down in my diary so I wouldn't forget. It was the opposite to what u did. The only way I remembered was to try and remember and set clock and write in my diary so I wouldn't forget and having it by me all the time. That's how I remembered.

With you it could just be the case of memory loss in u not naturally able to remember what u have to do next etc. Some people do have a form of memory loss but others dont remember too well. It could be one or the other u got. It's best to get this checked out with ur doctor next time.

For u remember ur appointments it maybe that u get someone like ur mum or health care worker to remind u that u got to get up now for ur meeting. It's so u can hear when ur mum is calling u or when ur health worker is calling u to get out of bed now. Why couldn't u try that and see if it makes a difference? I'm not sure wether this will help but u could put up post stock notes around where ur bed is and before u go sleep remind urself of appointment with therapist for tomorrow in order for u to have it stuck in ur mind ready for next day.

Are u taking any medication at the moment? That maybe the reason as well to why u seem to be forgetting ur appointments. Possible side effect u could have from ur medication. Have u looked at the instructions on the back of the box? Worth looking at otherwise if its not that then it could just be a case of not rembering and u need help reminding. Doesn't help when u have other things on ur mind two. There could be a lot of triggers for u to be forgetting easily as the example I just said.

I hope u can try this and see for urself and if none of the above work then I would go back to doctor and mention this to them and what u can do to improve ways of remembering ur appointments in future.

Good Luck.

When you set an alarm to go to an appointment, you could try to get into the habit of only 'snoozing' it, rather than turning it off until you actually leave the house to go the appointment? It might be a bit annoying having the alarm going off every ten minutes or so, but it could help!
