Another unsuccessful interview ??
I am thinking, I just had another unsuccessful interview. Last week on Monday, I had another interview with Tesco. It was a group interview and had to do some sample work for about an hour. They said they will let us know the outcome of the interview in couple of days and yet they have not send me any response at all. I feel like I am being used up here, cause we did an hour of free bloody sample work and they don't have the respect to notify the outcome of our interview. What should I do now?

Keep trying, and take heart that you are getting to the interview stage.
I know it's annoying when jobs don't get back to you, but often they have so many applicants that they can only really contact those who are successful. |
I hate those corporate sons of bitches!

My philosophy is to "hit them where they aint" and make a job instead of trying to beat out hordes chasing down the same ones. One summer at uni I couldn't find a job and started a painting biz. These days with Youtube you can learn to do almost anything. Once you've run your own small thing the big employers like that and you stand out from the crowd. In the meantime network with friends, peers since they might know of opportunities somewhere. Just don't be insecure about doing your own thing. Lots of people do well without even knowing what they are doing at first. Intending to do good work and be fair sets the stage for serendipity

Can you call and ask for feedback?

I thought the interview with Tesco was long gone? How come u had a group interview? I don't understand what u ment before with ur last message. Seems like theres two stages to the application process. Taking there time.
That's weriod! Funny cuz I heard a few things about Tesco applying form and apparently someone said they select people at random to get them to go for interview. Thats really bad and someone else said the online form where there is that test working in store is fixed as u have to have the same answers for each one when the questions sound different. I applied Tesco today online and waiting to hear back but I before I applied there a few times and was unsuccessful. I dont know why. That's why I think it is fixed or something. Thats wrong and Tesco should be found out about that. I shop there alot and I like Tesco but not so much anymore. Is it just u what hasn't heard back? If it is u need to go there in person and ask them why u haven't heard nothing from the outcome of ur interview. I'm not sure if it's u and others what havent anything? I think when u next have spare time to go there and find out. You need to know. In the mean time u should still apply for other jobs. Have u trier other supermarkets like Sainsburys, Asda, Aldi, Lidil, Morrisons or any others like that? You might find those shops are worth a chance off applying for. I don't like Aldi or any of those but the others sound ok. Sainsburys is a good one. Good Luck |

They won't be able to just pick people at random for interviews due to discrimination. The only way they can do that is if everyone is at the same level and there isn't space for everyone to be interviewed. Also things sent be fixed because that is illegal and if that was the case then a huge company such as tesco would've been found out a long time ago and would've had major court cases against them which could've stopped this practice. I also wouldn't recommend going in and asking them in person, instead I'd recommend finding their email or telephone details and contacting them that way. They're unlikely to be able to help if you go and see them in person due to them being really busy sorting their own job out and also they won't have your information at hand if you did this as well as to be honest I don't think it'd look good for your future prospects as it is more confrontational than just sending a letter or email.

This morning they rang me and apologized to me that they should have rang me the week before but due to problem in the head office, they still have not received any information. So she told me that, she will inform me as soon as they receive information from the head office. Does this mean I still have the chance to get the job ?

I think the point is that if you despise them so much, why would you want to work with them? Are you willing to sacrifice whatever morals lead you to label them as 'corporate sons of bitches'?
Of course, the answer is probably yes, considering that most of us are willing to do just that if it pays the bills and puts food on the table. I do every time I go to work and get rewarded for persuading people to buy **** they don't need. Not convinced there's any need to be disparaging about the warm fuzzies though. Nothing wrong with wanting to do something you consider worthwhile. And while job security may be an issue (though that is certainly not an issue that is confined to the third sector) the pay is not going to be lower than the minimum wage you'll probably be paid in retail. Anyway, returning to the actual point of this thread, lots of places won't contact you if you're unsuccessful. Yeah, it sucks. But honestly, you'd better get used to it. I have applied for countless jobs and not heard back. If you want feedback, then really it's going to be your responsibility to contact them. |

Yeah, you posted that while I was typing.
No idea what your chances are, I'm afraid. That would depend on your interview and the other candidates and so on, exactly the same as before. Only thing it means is that you haven't definitely not got the job. And no, they don't necessarily have a minute to call you, given that it adds up if you consider all the other people they'd also have to call. I know it's frustrating, I am busy applying for ALL THE JOBS at the moment (in the third sector mostly, just gotta love those warm fuzzies... ;) ) but realistically it's just something you're going to have to get used to. |

Oh dear God. I have a paid job and am looking for PAID JOBS in the third sector. As in, with charities and not-for-profit organizations. They do actually employ people, strangely enough.

Sorry, but what exactly are you trying to imply with your oh-so-patronizing response? You might have to spell it out for someone as dim as you evidently find me ;)

Aw, go on. I'm curious now.
