Troubleshooting Chat. - Technical Issues.
 

There have been a lot of similar threads in Forum and Community Questions recently about these common chat issues, which are starting to clog up the board. If you have tried checking these and you still aren't able to enter chat please comment below and we'll do our best to look into it as soon as possible.

Between Midnight and 1am BST.
You will see a blue screen with the message "authentication fail". You will be unable to enter chat between midnight and 1am at the moment. If you are already in chat you will not be kicked. This is due to a technical error that is being looked into. Please try again after 1am or before midnight.

Punctuation in your username.
Certain characters in your username (like *) will mean you can't enter chat. You can submit a username change request which will be processed the following Friday.

Changing Browsers or Computers
Usually problems entering chat can be resolved by changing your browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox) or by using another computer. Sometimes trying another browser of computer helps identify what is causing the problem.

Other Issues
If you are having an issue not mentioned about please comment below and we will look into it ASAP.

I was in there at 2am this morning on the same computer so none of my settings have changed. I know you can't get in at 12am to 1am but is it the same for your 12pm-1pm?

No, I've just logged in. Not sure. Have you tried a different browser?

Nah, I'm not that committed. I'll go and make a study timetable instead :P

Because you're trying to enter between midnight and 1am GMT.

my chat was playing up the other night, randomly disconnected me about 4 times within 10 minutes!!

i havent been able to get on in almost 2 weeks!! just a blue page everytime

Are you sure you're entering at times that aren't between midnight and 1am?

yes quite sure!! all different times through out the day

i know i was having some issues with recent versions of firefox. also make sure flash is updated.
