Can you help please
Sorry to make another thread.
I'm feeling really depressed with suicidal thoughts and all I wanna do is sleep or act on my thoughts. What can I do to help myself without going to A&E ? |
would distractions help? I find TV easiest. or go for a walk, if you can do that safely. when I had difficult evenings at uni I used to go for a walk to a late-opening café and have a coffee - most times after that I felt able to go back to my room safely.
|
Thanks that's really helpful. There is a late night cafe near my house ill try going tonight and do some reading or something x
|
If it's a toss-up between sleeping and acting on the thoughts, always go for sleep!
I hope the cafe trip helps :) |
as Jenna says, sleep is also a good choice. let us know how you get on at the café.
|
My main way of dealing with this lately is to sleep through it, have a bath, read, watch TV or do puzzles. I find staying in the house is my safest option until it passes and just doing easy things and resting until it eases up has kept me out of A&E. X
|
I think your right if keeping safe means sleeping then I should sleep. I'm pretty much done with today so I've taken my meds in the hope they will knock me out and ill see how I feel tomorrow.
I'm just gonna play online till they kick in. I'll try the cafe tomorrow if this feeling persists. Thanks for the replies x |
sleep tight :) hope the meds help x
|
How are you feeling now x
|
I'm still quite low but im seeing my cc today so hopefully she can help.
|
let us know how you get on x
|
Thanks.
The meeting went well with my cc. She said she is gonna call me tomorrow and see how I feel. If I'm still depressed I can see htt /crisis team and get a medication review. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow but if I don't then at least there is a plan in place. Thanks for all the support guys |
i'm glad there's a plan in place. here if you need us.
|
Thank you x

My cc suggested doing uni work because I find that really distracting. I've just done half an hours worth and I feel a bit better. Like I've achieved something with my day.
Puzzles are good too I like sudoku (sp?) |
I'm glad doing uni work has helped.
Puzzles are my favoured distraction method too - personal sites are jigzone, daily killer sudoku and games for the brain. One thing that helps me when my mood is low to make a note of when I have done something to lift my mood and make sure I reward myself for achieving things, then I have two good memories helps to reinforce the good stuff! :-) |
Puzzles are good but I always peak at the answers :whistling:
I've begun getting the peoples friend because I find I just have enough concentration to read the stories, they are very short and there are puzzles (with answers :wow: ) |
Thanks for all the support and all the suggestions. They have been very helpful and I think I'm starting to realise that I can get rid if this mood but I can manage it.
I just have to stop spending most of the day in bed and isolating myself. That's the tricky stuff. I still have some suicidal thoughts but I'm trying it not act on them because I don't wanna end up in a&e or even worse on the psych ward. Thanks again though. |
Well done for trying!!
