My thread was thoughtlessly removed
 

When I started using RYL again, maybe about a week or two ago now, I made a post named "The Children's Tumour Foundation". I put a lot of thought and effort into this thread, and it was then removed. The reason behind the remove, was that I posted a link to help try and raise money for the charity. I don't see why this is against the rules, but I'm not going to argue about that.

What I do want to complain about is that the thread along with all its contents as removed. Like I said, I put a lot of thought and effort into this thread, and it was just removed. There was a small section of text that was breaking the rules, and that was the link, asking for donations. Removing this part from the post, which would've been easy, because it probably was only about one line; rather than removing the entire thread completely.

On top of this, I also received a PM from a Forum Moderator, notifying me that the post was removed because RYL does not allow money to be raised through links. (these were pretty much the exact words in the PM). I then replied to the post, saying pretty much the above, about how removing the thread was a bit thoughtless, the one line of rule breaking text could've just been removed instead of the whole thread, etc, etc, etc. After sending this post, I never received a response. Whether I am wrong or not (which i strongly believe I'm not) in saying that the thread shouldn't of been removed, and the one line of rule breaking text should've, it still would've been nice to reply.

Summarising; the thread was thoughtlessly removed; the rule breaking text could've been removed instead. Never received a response to my response to the original PM.

In-fact, when I realised the thread was so carelessly removed, it stressed me out so much, I felt like absolute crap.

Whether or not I made it in a more appropriate sub forum wouldn't of made a difference.

Ok, maybe the link and asking for donations can be a bit too much for some.

But again, my original point still stands, why not just remove that bit, rather than the whole thread

I don't think the mods are going to reply to this thread, as they tend to keep this sort of thing behind the scenes. Wait for a reply to the PM, or send another one to a mod (they have red names, in case you don't know who is a mod) to clarify.

I can't comment on why the thread was removed, but if it bothers you that much make another one in General Support, as General Chat wasn't really the best place for it, in my opinion.

Like I said earlier, whether or not I posted the thread into a more appropriate sub forum, wouldn't of made a difference to the thread being removed. Also, the thread was not really seeking out support for myself, it was there to discuss and help raise some money.

The Moderator i replied to has been online multiple times since I replied, so I don't see why I have not received a response.

Oh and I posted it here because the description of this sub forum says that complaints can be posted here.

Just because a moderator has been online since the event occurred does not mean that they have read your PM. I get around 30 PMs every day, my inbox is now at 95% full even though I deleted a lot of PMs the other day. I have PMs from a week ago waiting to be read by me and even when read it can take me more time to reply.

Im not sure what moderator actually removed your thread however whoever it is will have a good reason for not replying so I can only suggest re-PMing the moderator, emailing the whole of the moderating team or being patient and waiting for a response.

No threads are 'thoughtlessly' removed, the moderators discuss posts like this and in fact a thread was made about this thread where the matter was discussed.

If you would like to discuss this in more detail then I would suggest the same as I have done above (email/Re-PM/PM another moderator) and we would be happy to discuss it with you. However we do not discuss action we have taken in public unless its for a very important reason/a reason the community as a whole should be aware of.

If its discussed, then surely someone would've come up with the idea of just removing the small rule breaking part?

But why was it not the agreed method? Surely, if nothing else in the post in rule breaking, then it would be best to just remove the one line of rule breaking.

Because the mods obviously felt that removing the entire thread is what needed to happen...

I was the mod who moved your thread.

I received your pm at 10:36 on Sunday night by which point I had turned my computer off I was busy all yesterday and met a friend for supper not getting home till 9 by which point modding wasn't on my mind I did pop on a few times during the day but this was to post a quick response here and there.

Today I have been at work all day I got home around 630 cooked supper and am now on ryl. Again I have popped on here and there but like yesterday this has been on my phone etc.

As much as I'd like to spend my entire time chained to ryl as a mod I do have a real life and whilst I apologise for not replying to your pm I have ten pms (give or take) that need replies all of which have been sent to me since Sunday and I have ignored them all so you are not alone in being a victim of my thoughtlessness!

I wouldn't normally make a public comment but having been bashed so publically I decided that it was appropriate! I shall now go and reply to my pms (bearing in mind that I only have a few minutes to do this) reply to some threads and then head to bed!! As several people are waiting for a response from me you will hear from me in due course.

I'm pretty sure that rule changed, hence you getting some resistance to your post here!

It's understandable, as the rules haven't been updated, but I'm almost certain the conclusion from a discussion that was that complaints can't be posted here. Especially if it's regarding moderator action, which should be taken to the mods directly (and patiently- as Liv said, they have a lot to get through!).

I have replied to your PM and so I will lock this thread.

Just a comment to any member if for any reason you don't get a reply to a mod in an appropriate time frame (several days at least) please re pm them.
