choosing universities?

I know this has been on GSA and all before...but is anyone stressing a bit over the fact that we're choosing up to 5 universities that we'll be studying at for 3 years of our lives (so we'd better bloody like it)? I don't know where to go. Gah, awkward Fine Art.

I actually have the opposite problem - There's only about 3 that would accept me :P

It's minted and wicked cool.

I have been spazzing over my uni choices for the past three weeks non stop. There have been rows, tears and tantrums...it wasnt pretty :P
I am literally only just getting it sorted. I have a definate three, then a couple of maybes :S
Its mainly been my father thats made my choices so dificult. It's miserable business :(

^ Definitely.
A university with a good reputation is important, but so too is enjoying the next three years (& £18,000) of your life.

It's easy to get bogged down by the stress of it all, but take your time, visit places - one of the best things I did, too, was to draw up almost my own "league table", of where I would like to go, reputation, location, pros and cons of each place, etc. It just made things a lot easier to work out and decide between.

As difficult as it is, remember that this isn't the end of the world; I got in to one of the top 5 universities in the country, through clearing. Some people on my course have taken one, two, three, four years off - you don't have to go in straight away!

Take care, and good luck

UCAS applications and the like are doing my head in!
I think I've decided on my 5 though, finally :)
I agree with above - book some open days, visit the uni's websites to find out the dates, and you may have to book a place (online).
I'm going to Derby on Friday, then Conventry on Saturday! And Bolton & a tour of Warwick next month.
Good luck xx

Chillax.
Choose somewhere that does your course.
Go visit the campus', see if you like.
You can change your choices too, if need be.
So don't worry.

I dont really have that problem since Abertay is the only uni in the uk that does my course.

Also the good thing is Abertay is the best uni to go to in the uk for computer games, so id rather go here becuase its the best :)

Lol, Cat. I was going to give you a link to this thread.
Obviously you found it before me.

On, another note. I've got a year to not pay any attention then panic two days before the deadline (Y)

Tears and Rain 25-10-2007 02:05 AM

Yes.

I've decided i'm going throuigh clearing already.

gypsyroselee 25-10-2007 02:40 AM

last year i chose 6 universites.
got 3 offers.
then flopped & got in nowhere.

this year im choosing 5 universites.
pretty much the same ones as last time.
hopefully NOT flopping & getting into sussex.

i hate my life.

BeautyFiend 25-10-2007 02:22 PM

I chose 6, and got into 6.
You can get in anywhere if you put your mind to it.
Well, maybe not like Ox bridge.

I didn't really get a choice. I needed to stay at home and there are around 4 unis in easy travelling distance. Two didn't appeal at all. Got a conditional offer at another and then didn't get good enough grades. So did another year at college doing a foundation degree and went to the the 4 uni. I'm now there full time and i love it. i think i'm lucky.

The Hierophant 25-10-2007 02:33 PM

Chill.
I called up.
Had an interview.
Nd I'm at uni.

Probably not the right way to do it.
Hmmm.

limey. 25-10-2007 05:25 PM

I sent mine off two weeks agoooo. I only actually like 3 out of my 5 and they'll prob reject me.

whispers 25-10-2007 05:28 PM

I know the feeling, kind of.
Although it's probably easier for me. I've only applied to one English university and if I don't get in there, I'm staying in Scotland 'cos of cost and stuff. And there aren't that many good universities here, lolz. So not too much of a choice to make.
But yes, try not to get too stressed. Going to open days is really helpful - and as long as you can narrow it down to five, you don't have to decide between them for ages yet.
Good luck and everything :)
