No, but you do need Java, which most people have (Youtube).
What happens when you try to get in?

just a brown page comes up thanx

ive downloaded java now I get a blue blank screen

Oh. Have you tried restarting your computer?
And is it just a blank blue screen?

Mine's actually coming up with the chat page as just blank blue when I'm in Firefox, but seems to be okay in Chrome.
