Your ideal place to live.
What would be your ideal place / area to live in, if you could choose exactly what you most want?
For me it would be living alone in a cottage in the countryside where my nearest neighbour is 3+ miles away. Ideally I would be able to drive and I would need a decent internet connection (can't live without the internet) and a mobile phone signal (I hate landlines) in case I have to call 999 or some other emergency. I would like to live right next to a safe woodland and have a huge garden. |
To be perfectly honest i'm happy where I live (wouldn't mind having a bigger place though) but i'm pretty happy where I am. Everything I really need is within walking distance and all that.

Oh and wouldn't mind having a garden!

I'd like to live on the outskirts of a suburban area that is on the outskirts of a city, kinda like the place I live in now, but with less threats of crime, so I can be unafraid of going outside to get the mail or do chores outside. I'd like a house with a room for me and whoever I marry, two other rooms cause I would like to have two kids if possible, a family/living room, a nice kitchen, a cozy dining area, and then a room in which I can get away from it all, where I can make music, write, read, take naps, etc. away from others because I admit I'll need alone time even from whoever I marry and our kid(s) if we have any. I'd like the house to be near a bit of woodland that I can explore with my family and friends and have a yard in which I can have a garden and my future kid(s) can happily play in. And it has to have a pool. Because I love swimming almost as much as I love music.

I love London, perfectly happy here. More theatres, galleries and restaurants than you can shake a stick at, something for every mood that you're in, and you can take a train and be out of London in the countryside in an hour, or you can get the Eurostar to Europe in two hours. Perfect mix. I think when I'm older and have enough of the tube, would like to live somewhere like Maidenhead, where there's still quiet and peace, but you can get to places where there's activity - London, Reading, Oxford - easily enough.
I've started getting a bit tired of London, but I cannot think of anywhere I'd rather be. Both London Open House and Design Festival this weekend, talk on social media and storytelling on Monday, an evening of music and poetry on Tuesday, Brighton on Wednesday and a nice bar on Friday. Three theatre shows lined up for the following week, and a meeting to discuss how arts can help breakthrough therapies like whole person recovery at the weekend. And the cheese and beer. So many cheese shops and so many beer shops. I'd like a larger house, and I'd like a garden - which is totally unaffordable in London - but I spend such little time in my house, I really wouldn't object to not having that for now. |
When I am old enough to retire, I would like to retire somewhere by the sea, and there has to be a pier.
Otherwise I am happy where I am, but I would like an extra bedroom. I have superb neighbours, which I didnt have in my last flat. |

I would like to live in the quiet countryside on my own farm, with horses and ponys.
I would live there with my husband and three kids :) |

I would like my cottage to be all to myself and definitely no kids. I would like to be able to isolate myself for 5+ days at a time. And my nearest neighbour, 3+ miles away, would be my good friend C. I would theme my house with a science theme. I'd have one wall with circuit boards nailed to it. The kitchen door would be gone and replaced not with hanging beads, but with ethernet cables, USB cables, HDMI cables etc. I would have a massive tube and rail map in the living room. My medically-correct skeleton (which currently stands in my room here in supported housing) would be in the living room too. I would ban TVs from my house as they would serve no purpose except to annoy me. I would have surround sound for my music system on my computer and this computer would be the computer that C and I are going to build this Sunday from the components that we ordered (CPU, motherboard etc). I would have a huge bookshelf full of science and maths-related textbooks. I would also have a more powerful microserver (my current microserver plays up at times).
I'm going to stop now as I could go on and on, and my Dad told me that people get bored when I do that. |
North Carolina. Asheville to be exact. It is a small town really but with the conveniences of nearby amenities such as large bargain stores and shopping malls and such but still downtown is old fashioned and artsy and historical in the daytime and a great place to bar hop at night. The crowd is young, artsy, liberal, and accepting. And surrounding it is open country and mountains. It's a liberal little place in the middle of the Bible Belt. It's really quirky.

I want to live on the moon. No one to piss me off up there.

I want to have a moving train set in my house. Probably London Underground themed.

I like living im Essex. It's got some really lovely, countryfied areas but it's also close to London.
I'd love to live in a modern, stylish house with my boyfriend. A big kitchen with appliances, decent sized living and dining room. We'd have a room that can be dave's man cave that he can paint in and play his models with his mates. I'd have a study for my uni work with big bookcases. We'd have a large double bedroom for us with en suite and walk in wardrobe. And a few spare rooms for visitors. Oh and some cats :D |
I'd love to live in a place were i go every year on holiday in scotland...or somewhere really cold with lots of snow :)

i would ideally like to live in the middle of nowhere, maybe a small hamlet or village, in a fairly big house, 3 or 4 bedrooms would be awesome. nice big front room and kitchen. i can dream eh? being stuck in a 1 bed place for eternity seems to be what's going to happen :?

Would love to live in a big city, loads of great shops, places to eat, and has great transport connections :)

I want to live in the mountains have done since I got my first taste of them! I live in a beautiful area right now but my heart is with hills much higher which I can walk up, climb up and scramble up :) I'd like a house with my own art studio and a large garden for goats and alpacas! I'd have t be within commuting distance of town so I can work and fund my living but I don't know what that may be yet so I can't say I need a town I may just need my house!

I'd like to live in the countryside with a beach and sea nearby. It is possible to have both. I would like a big bungalow with a craft studio and a conservatory and a music room as well as the usual rooms with lots of ground around it and lots of animals in the grounds and house. I already have quite a lot of that really. 1 minutes and I'm in the countryside. I have two chinchillas in the spare room and a dog plus a room I use as a study, for crafting etc. and a reasonably sized garden with a tiny summer house at the bottom and a plum tree which has just given me lots of fruits. so I'm quite lucky really in what I already have. it's taken me a life time to achieve it but till I was ten I lived in a one room and kitchen with an outside toilet - no Bathroom so I think I've done O.K.
