SI and Alcohol

I know that when you cut you lose iron and plasma and well, obviously blood, and God knows what else, but what happens if you've been drinking? I mean is it any worse or anything? I only drank half a bottle of Smirnoff, and I definitely can't hold my liquor and so now i'm buzzed and just really really mellow, which is funny to me.
But yeah, is it any worse than just regular cutting is? I mean I'm not drunk.

I don't think that it is. I do it alot and have never had any negative consequences. Just be careful that you don't take any other medications while you are drinking and you'll be fine. If you need to talk about whats upsetting you to cut, you can PM me.

if you've been drinking a lot? your blood thins out and doesn't clot well or maybe at all. people can die from that...

I think the real problem with this is that alcohol, even in small amounts intensifies your emotions, which can therefore lead to you wanting to cut more. Also if you drink more your inhibitions go down and your pain tolerance goes up, so if you cut when you are drinking you may cut more or deeper than usual.

I have cut when I've been drunk, never buzzed though.
To me, there's really no difference.
The alcohol usually supresses my emotions until I've had to much to drink, in which I get emotional and start to cry hysterically.
When I cry I usually don't/won't have to cut because I've let out what was once in.
If that makes sense.

Drinking alcohol makes all your feelings and emotions more intense. I've barred myself from drinking unless i'm out with a lot of people who i know can and will watch me. I'd suggest most people struggling with SI strongly try and refrain from drinking. It has helped me. Drinking also lowers your inhibitions, so you are more likely to do something you normally wouldn't. Add that to the intenser emotions, it is very dangerous for SI'ers.

i'd be more worried about the fact that ur inhibitions will lowered that much more ur more inclined to cause more damage :(

I agree.Ive experienced it. I was drinking at a friends house & there was not many people there. Therefore a drunken me,left alone with my thoughts & sharp objects.
Ive never been so scared & then ashamed before in my life.
Im never drinking again unless im surrounded by friends. It makes it worse because it increases your pain threshold, so i couldnt feel anything, even though without drink it would have been immense pain.
I just wouldnt recomend it.

Drinking + SI = really really bad. You just can't feel it, and even when you do start to feel it you don't care. It also thins your blood so you bleed a lot more.
