anxiety and phobias

lately my anxiety has gotten cripplingly bad, i'm hardly ever calm anymore, i spead my entire life trying to breathe deeply to avoid panicking.

also i dyed my hair last month and since i've gone back to my natural hair color, my hair has been shedding more than it used to, and i've always had a phobia of my teeth/hair falling out. yeah. i have panic attacks in the shower when i wash my hair.
it's to the point where you could call it a delusion, because i know my hair isn't completely falling out, but my brain panics about it anyway.

i need support i guess? and advice on dealing with constant anxiety?

Hi there.

Sorry you're struggling so much with it right now.

Have you spoken to anyone about your anxiety? I was put on Propranolol which helped me greatly with panic/anxiety attacks. In fact it made my life liveable again.

I also find having certain calming songs on my iPod always with me or something that has a familiar smell can help. Also always carrying a bottle of water.

As for the hair, it could simply be a reaction to this particular dying session, or it could just be completely natural as we all shed all the time; I seem to be always.

If you are concerned you could try going to your GP about it and speak to him?

i've told my mom about this stuff and she's supporting me, i think i might press the idea of getting professional help if it keeps up for too much longer.

yeah music helps a lot, i have a stuffed animal that calms me down a lot but he's too big to carry places :( i'm trying to find a smaller one.

water sounds helpful, i'll definitely try that, thanks for the suggestion.

i'm quite sure my hair is just shedding from the dye and it's pretty much normal but my brain is blowing it out of proportion and making me believe it's falling out completely. my hair grows pretty fast though. i'm sure it'll get better but in the meantime it's scary *sigh*

thank you very much for your support ♥

It's good your mum is supportive. It might be an idea to seek help...anxiety can be managed - even though it doesn't feel it at the time.

I have a sheet from therapy about managing anxiety attacks...if I can find it I'll send you the info.

Take care of yourself.

my mom has anxiety too, so we're sort of on the same page, which is nice.
tomorrow i'm trying some new things to see what helps.
thank you for your time and everything ♥
