anxiety over room redecoration

i've re-arranged and re-decorated my room so it fits more with my age (16) so there's no silly kids posters up or anything like that
but since i've done it i just feel so, so anxious
and i know i can't put it back to how it was because it won't be the same
and it doesn't feel right
and it's making me panic and have anxiety attacks and makes me want to self harm
i'm literally crying right now because i want it back how it was
why am i so stupid?

you're not stupid! it's ok to feel disturbed by change, especially change to something to important and personal like your bedroom. is there anything you can do to distract yourself from self harming- any coping techniques (that are healthy) or hobbies you have? if you need help with distractions feel free to message me (although i dont check this often)
just try to focus on the positive step you've taken to do something constructive and decorate your room. i think it's great you did that :)

thank you
that's made me feel a little better
i keep wanting to cry so perhaps if i cry it will make things better and stop me wanting to harm myself
it was a positive thing to do i guess because in a way i'm leaving behind a lot of **** that happened (i guess i redecorated so that i could move on because i'd just left high school and stuff) but i just can't help missing how cosy and personal it used to be i guess
thank you for replying
like i said you've made me feel a little better

i'm glad i managed to make you feel a little better :)
sometimes crying can be a really good release but if you feel like it's getting out of control breathing exercises can be really useful.
i've just left school too, and weirdly i've wanted to decorate my room too so i can relate to you on that level. how about you make this new room more personal in a different way? if you want a sophisticated look instead of a 'childish' one you could put up some of your favourite photographs in frames or neatly organised into albums, or maybe make a personal kind of scrapbook you can store away but still look at. there are a lot ideas, the internet can be helpful in looking for cool ways to decorate your room.
hope everything starts feeling more in control soon x
