Lets have a debate..
ok this could turn into one of those long discussions.. but anyway.
Why is it tht its totally acceptable for a guy to give his gf flowers and not for the girl to give her bf flowers?? I bought my bf a bunch of flowers today (i do this now and again) and although he likes it, he still looks at me a bit oddly as if to say 'wtf r you doing?' I dont do it in front of his mates as he'd get ribbed for having an odd gf, but if tht was the other way around my mates would be in awe at me having such a romantic bf! Wats the problem guys? Its a nice gesture and i think its time us girls got some credit for being romantic too! Blah! :-D |
To be quite fair a guy receiving flowers is a bit poofy.
|
I don't really like girls buying me flowers.
I get embarrassed. Romantic gestures are good. But personally it's like... 'i'd rather have some beer, thanks' =p |
I find it a bit odd for guys to receive flowers, i dunno but most guys i know really wouldn't want any. I like the whole gesture of someone giving me flowers, but i'd rather have something else.
|
Surely guys dont like flowers much, I mean they might but well flowers are silly anyway.
|
ok, its all well and good saying 'its a bit silly/poofy' but WHY?
|
Because society has taught us that flowers = girls.
(Some) Men feel their masculinity is threatened by such things. |
Well they are silly becuase they cost too much and dont last very long, and you have to put them in water and stuff.
|
I think its the similar when two girls hug or hold hands, sometimes kiss, its automatically assumed it's ok and that their just friends, but then two guys hug or hold hands, or even a friendly kiss its automatically assumed they are gay.
Like when a guy buys a girl flowers, its all 'awhh isnt my boyfriend romantic?' but when a girl buys her boyfriend flowers, its considered wrong or something. I think its because men are always made out to be the protector and are the ones to make their other half feel protected and everything and if they are brought flowers its weakness their masculinity or something. I dont, but thats my little input. Societys twisted these days. |
ok, forget the flower thing, wat i wanna no is why does society have these stupid stereotypes? its reduculous imo
|
Because society is stupid
|
I buy/have bought my boyfriend flowers and I don't see owt wrong with it. As far as I know he liked them...
It's the age old stereo-type of dominant and masculine being the only type of men that men can be. Pfft, say I. I'd rather have a straight-but-acts-kinda-gay bloke any day. |
These days everyone has to be labelled & caterogrised. Its just... why? theres no chuffing point in it.
There should be a law where it says you arent allowed to label or categorise other people and just let them be who they want to be and dress and act how they want. Eveyone has their own life and they should be able to lead it however they want without being judged or anything. |

If you want to buy something for a guy buy him a dvd, some beer or new porn. |
Society sucks these days.
Why can't we just buy people a coffee mug that says i love you? 'cuz they're for both genders (y) |
I've never met a guy who wanted flowers. To be honest i'm not that keen on them anyway. Why would you want to bring something into your house just for it to die. If someone wanted to buy me flowers (fat chance) they could build a flower bed and plant them in the garden instead. But they would have to weed it first. (:

My bloke is LOVELY and NOT a girl at all thanks! [I checked...]
And he bought me shoesssss. And bought me breakfast in bed. Therefore, just, lovely, lovely, lovely lovely lovely man. [He's going to read this and cringe!] |
Well its not that I don't like flowers, their fine in their context ie in the ground where they should be. Men generally like gadgets or other useless items. I would find it odd if a girl gave me flowers.
|
Ive come to the conclusion, Men are odd! *nods*
Simplest explanation really. |
i'd like it if a guy buys me something. it doesnt have to be flowers but they are nice and also traditional.
ive never had a guy i'd wanted to buy stuff for. i agree that guys like useless gadgets, take my brother for example. |
