talking to uni disability adviser

I've been putting it off for a while, but I finally made an appointment to see the disability adviser at uni again. I just need to figure out what exactly I want them.

I already have an access plan (a notice you give to tutors at the start of the semester explaining that you have a medical condition and how it may affect your learning without actually saying what you're diagnosed with or anything). It also gives a list of accommodations they may need to make (for example, longer exam time, extensions on assignments), and one of the things on my list is something about needing extra planning for placements, but I'm not really sure what that means.

I have a placement this semester and at the moment it's only once a week (in a few weeks time I'll start a four-week block though). I'm already struggling a little bit, and am a bit worried about how I'll cope with the 4 weeks.

Hey, just so you know, it can be really helpful to see the adviser. And they can probably hook you up with a mentor and any equipment you need. It took me 4 years to ask for it (went my whole undergrad just feeling like a failure) and I am so glad i did...

good luck

I agree with the above definitely make an appointment to see the disability advisor. They will be able to explain exactly what they mean about the placement and may also be able to offer additional support. Good luck

How did it go with the disability advisor?

I hope placement is going well!

Today was the last day of my placement, and I'm pretty sure I failed it. They said on Tuesday that I was "at risk", and I really don't think I managed to change their minds in the last three days.
