Wellbutrin and drinking
So I've recently started on wellbutrin and the sticker on the bottle say's "Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication"...So I haven't for a month and a half. It's just getting really annoying though, because everyone else around me can drink. My grandma can have Bailey's and coffee in the evening, my grandpa can have a beer after a long day at work. We went out to eat with some other family and they could all have a drink with dinner.
Before I started the wellbutrin I was drinking 2-3 times a week and it's pretty much driving me nuts that I'm not allowed to now. It's getting really tempting to drink anyways even though I know it could potentially have negative effects. I've looked up the side effects that can happen if you drink on the medication and even though pretty much everything said not to do it, you'll feel awful, increased depression, you may black out even after only a few drinks...I'm still craving it, I just really want to drink right now. Sorry, I maybe should have put this in the substance abuse forum? |
Hi there,
I think it's important to take on the warnings on the bottle to be honest; they're there for a reason. Could you maybe speak to whoever prescribed it to you to see what they say; they might say in moderartion or something like that? Take care. x x x |
I asked him and he said that I really shouldn't drink at all while I'm taking it...I kind of did a bad thing though and took a bit extra of my sleeping meds he prescribed me because it gives you a similar feeling as being drunk. I feel really bad about doing it because I know I'm just going to cause more problems for myself if I do stuff like that. I mean, I always knew I was a bit of a heavy drinker but I didn't really think it was a problem until now. I should maybe try to bring this up to my psych next week.
